I dont know if this is an error or if the planes wings were reinforced. I was Chasing down a GO229 and i got too close and wasnt paying attention and i sliced through the left wing with no damage to me. Is that an error or the way its supposed to be?

They were built specifically to ram other planes, hence the strength, also the laminar flow wing allows for an AoA of 50 degrees to be maintainable for short periods of time, and the plane is unable to stall, it is actually easier to fly than a Cessna 172, very common attributes for early jet fighters. Air inlet allows for very abrupt manouvering at stall speeds without disturbing the airflow to the engine.

On a serious note. Whenever I collide with someone online, my plane always ends up losing a wing, the other guy is 99% of the time un-affected. Don't know why this is so. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

Oberleutnant Oskar-Walter Romm thoughts on his aircraft.

"I found the Fw 190D-9 to be greatly superior to those of my opponents. During dogfights at altitudes of between about 10,000 and 24,000ft, usual when meeting the Russians, I found that I could pull the D-9 into a tight turn and still retain my speed advantage. In the descent the Dora-9 picked up speed much more rapidly than the A type; in the dive it could leave the Russian Yak-3 and Yak-9 fighters standing."

Well, collision modelling is a little porked in the game (especially online) and quite often, an aircraft will explode, or lose vital parts (like a wing, or it's tail, or something), but the second aircraft will fly away unscathed.

Normally, it is the faster aircraft which remains undamaged, I think. It's odd, but that's how it is.

whit ye looking at, ya big jessie?!?!

I can explain how the collision"modell" is working... it´s more an idea of a modell, than a real modell...

Rule one:
The faster plane will loose a wing, or the tail or another part. The slower plane will fly furtheron undamaged- Keep this simple rule in mind, you will see it´s sad but true...

Edit: Rule two: Sorry I forget the other simple rule of the CM :P IF you get to close together and the bellies touch eachother- you both will explode... I like this, cause this is logical- and this is pure luxury in FB! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

my understanding has been . . . . .

the faster A/C in the collision is given the blame by the game & is made to suffer the consequences while the slower plane is allowed to carry on

I've had fun like that.

I'm a He-111 on a bombing run, the defending fighter shred me, i bail out. I then watch 4+ fighter waste more ammo trying to shoot an empty plane and one by one smack into it and die. LOL

Yeah, I ripped off the wing of a P-51 the other day in my 109...That happens to me frequently cause I'm not great at flying my bird! but what was unique was the fact that I wasn't falling out of the sky!

I looked out, and both wings were intact. They had no damage at all actually. I figured, maybe I'd escape with limited controls, but I was cool...got waxed very shortly though by a B-17.

Collision modelling is strange, I guess.
