Exciting news, Trials Riders!

RedLynx is teaming up with the fine folks at FaceRig (https://facerig.com/) to offer you all the chance to be a squirrel!

Hold on, hear us out. Not just any squirrel, THE squirrel.

For those of you who donít already know, FaceRig is a program that enables anyone with a webcam (looking at you, Twitch streamers) to digitally embody awesome characters. The software is currently available on Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/274920/) and you can also check out a whole lot more details on it there.

Now we get to the part where Big Nuts and SynDi make the scene.

Trials fan and live stream personality Impact-XD (https://www.twitch.tv/high_impact_gaming) has been using the FaceRig software for a while now. But one thing was missing. Obviously that one thing was a giant squirrel so he reached out to both sides of this great divide and got the ball rolling.

That brings us to today, dear riders, and the announcement of the Trials Fusion Squirrels DLC for FaceRig! Mask yourself as Big Nuts and SynDi with these two acorn loving avatars, coming soon.

Now, Impact-XDís passion for squirrels and avatars could not be ignored any longer and we here at Trials felt the time was right to talk to the man behind this masterpiece idea.

Letís start this off with a little about yourself.

First off, I don't really like talking about myself so this is a little hard for me to really get started on paper or on screen. I like to be the guy in the background which is why I use FaceRig to present an avatar for my gaming. I've been gaming since my dad brought home Pong when I was 6 years old (wow old guy huh? j/k). I've enjoyed different types of games and most recently I enjoy first person shooters and driving games.

I've been into doing the streaming thing for the last 2 years and really just wanted to show my friends this "new cool thing" or have a laugh. Nothing too serious, didn't think it would get to a point where I'd be interviewing with a gaming community. (HA!)

Really not much to say about me other than I used to be an automotive tech and then over the last 10 years or so got really into computers and building servers for the guys I run with, mostly for fun.

Can you tell us about your experience with Trials games?

Trials has been a lot of fun. A friend gifted me Trials Fusion and I've been addicted ever since. It's a game where I just play to have fun, relax and unwind and it sort of took a turn where I started streaming trials while using FaceRig. I had people pop into my channel interested in the avatars I would use and started to build a small base of regulars who I talk to frequently.

Can you help shine a little light on FaceRig and explain to other players what you use it for?

FaceRig is face recognition/tracking avatar software that uses your webcam to track your facial expressions and voice recognition for an overall interactive avatar experience. You can also use FaceRig with Skype, OBS, or Xsplit. I started using FaceRig while streaming to have fun and interact with friends and viewers without putting my own face out there on screen (see question 1, HA!).

Can you tell us about how you got the idea to associate both and what you did to make it happen?

All joking aside, after I started streaming while playing Trials Fusion with FaceRig running I was goofing off and looking at my rider on screen with a squirrel head I thought it would be awesome to have a squirrel avatar for FaceRig. I went to the FaceRig forums to see how I should proceed in getting this avatar idea made. A post on the FaceRig forums told me I needed to get in touch with the developers of the game to get any copyright protected characters made.

I then went to the RedLynx forum and asked En0- (Trials Producer) For help and pitched my idea by showing him a stream of what I was using it for and what FaceRig could do and my thoughts on how cool it would be to have BigNuts and SynDi the squirrels added to FaceRig as avatar options.

The idea was very well received and after a few months of waiting I was presented with the avatars and the opportunity to talk to the community about Trials and FaceRig.

Do you have a message for the Trials community and for the FaceRig community?

I don't know if there is really a message here, but I will say that if there is something you think would be really cool or an amazing feature. The developers are listening and are willing to take your feedback. Don't be afraid to ask!

So now that youíve heard from the mind behind all this, letís have a look at it in action.

Well, that is this articleÖ IN A NUTSHELL. Keep an eye out for your favorite riders on Twitch sporting a sleek new set of buck teeth.

See you on the livestreams, squirrels!
