Nice nice http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I specially like the cool stripes on the wing "antenna" gizmo thingy.
I have a great deal of respect for the people who created this thing in the late thirties and never included a tailwheel!

Hehehe .
I think that "wing antennae thingy" is called a pitot tube . It is used to measure airspeed etc ,....
The antennae is that wire that runs back from the mast next to the cockpit to the vertical stabilizer .

Some of those other 225 were still out there, flying around and taking care of Romanian business. This photo is probably the best known one of the IAR 80 series. It was taken from a Me 108 by Engineer Sorin Tulea as these IARs were flying over the Carpathians on either a training or ferry run. There are two other IARs that don't appear in this photo, but appear in others of this series. If you look closely, you can just make out the port 13.2mm Browning FN of the 227-serial numbered a/c, which was an IAR 80B. The first craft was a 'straight-up' IAR 80, carrying four 7.92 mm Browning FNs. The Romanians kept these birds flying throughout the war and would periodically send them back to the factory for refurbishing, which gave Tulea the chance to snap this photo.

Btw, Oleg has promised to fix some of the bugs with the IAR 80 series in the upcoming patch, so we can expect to see the bomb-carrying load on the IAR 81 series reduced from one 225kg and four 50kg bombs to one 225kg and two 50kg bombs. We should also see the IAR 81C's armament reduced from four 7.92mm FNs to two, and, perhaps, these mgs will be rendered as 7.92mm, which they were, and not 7.62mm, which they currently are in the sim.

You know,
When the war against Russia began, these pieces downed such a huge numbers of rata's that a clear estimation is pretty hard to be done. Yet in FB is hard to down one. Not impossible, I am not saying that. The great thing about the IAR is that is has tons of ammo. And if you insist (squeezing the trigger 2 seconds more) , an I-16 is dead meat. For those trying to fly this bird , don't be afraid, keep the trigger pressed for 2 more seconds, I know is a lot, but don't worry about the ammo. One request though for Oleg , if is possible. The IAR 80 we have is a version that flew in a very small number , say a dozen or something like that, could it be possible to model the "real" 80A or even better the B version. Is only a change in the weapons power.Nothing special http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Of coures, I can always take the 81, but if this one is modeled corectly, the rack plus the bomb will induce some drag , hence, a lower top speed. Just a thought...

I love this little planes. Last week, on Costie's server (great setup thanks http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif)I gave two spitfires a good run for their money in the IAR-81 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif after fighting for 20 minutes all tree of us were out of ammo and smoking. I ended up stalling and crashing, trying to avoid the last few rounds one of them had. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif
The IAR-80 is not that bad for it's time. In a 1940 setup you can consider it a Z&B fighter http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/34.gif
I would like to play a coop made after the June 10 1944 memorable fight vs P-38's.
June 10 1944 (http://www.elknet.pl/acestory/vizanti/vizanti.htm)
I found a good place for it on the "online4Summer" map. The two fields in the south-east corner of grid A3 are in the perfect spot for the bounce http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/icon_twisted.gif. Just like back then, "a narrow valley, with little room for maneuver."
What do you think Ivan? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif a 20+ planes coop fighting in that valley.

BTW It looks much better then in the game for some reason. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif
