Most often for me it's a 1 on 1 duel. I'm usually flying either a P-40, a P-38, or a Yak-1/1b. I have been in many duels which have lasted more than five minutes. Often the Bf-109's I fight against run out of fuel first, but neither of us manage to get off a good shot. We waggle our wings and head home, and then try again. I've always loved personal combat. It's more like a sportsman's game. It's why I love WW1 air combat so much.

I voted ground fire, which I class with rear-gunners. The AI air-defense gunnery is much deadlier than figher to fighter, especially ships. After that, I've found going into a furball is just asking for trouble--you're going to end up damaged with someone above you with an advantage. I'm able in most cases to avoid a fight unless I have a clear advantage and can make a safe approach. I strongly recommend running away or looking for buddies, or lurk at altitude, looking for a lame duck to pick off. Oh, never lead an attack. Wait till everyone else in sight is engaged, then pick your moment.

All of the above, overall.

However, the last few days I got vulched several times or shot as soon as I got my wheels up. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

But besides that, the most common and most annoying death comes during furball action, when there are 4 other people trying to get my target - even firing through me - while 3-4 fighters get on our six in the meantime... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

I die in head-on's mostly. I just can't resist the challenge of flying down a guy's throat and lettin' him have it. Problem is, against an ace in a 190 or 109 it's ususally pretty suicidal. Other than that, flying over ships or airfields can be pretty deadly. Those AI buggers shoot em mighty straight.

When FlyinG fighters, i die when i didnt see my enemy coming, witch is hard for them to kill me any ways if they miss, i will probabely reac quicly and scape, or manuver into their six, but aswell, i am a Bouncer Ace, most of my kills, the enemy didnt even see me coming, but i wont let them know my deadly tecnique, it is top secrest, but when i use it correctly i have get kill death ratio to 20 and 0 2 shoots down, but not any deaths, it is realy cool,.... but when flying bombers, aaa is the devil

Offline, I have a bad habit of flying too low when I drop bombs. I have a 1 second fuse. A normal person would set it higher but I'm stubborn.

Online, I show up, I get shot down.

1. by the team mate of the guy I am about to kill (note to miself: do not chase him, shoot once and disengage) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
2. by flak (note: stay away from them, you know this!)
3. by collision with my target (#‚‚ā¨%%"#"!!!)
4. by collision to the earth (usually because i go into a curvefight with more agile ac and let the fight go to alt 0, read note #1)
5. and rarely by the guy i am stupid enough to curvefight even if i know his plane is better suited to it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif (read note #1)

So, stupidity kills me in all cases...

There isn't enough choices, you should have ran a "poll that's not a poll" http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/51.gif

anyways, offline i usually only succumb to the sniper rear gunners on enemy bombers, or the equally accurate ground fire. Online, all of the above.

In my server, vulching is allowed if that is what you mean. But I also stick in 4x20/25mm and 8x85/88mm flaks at each base as minimum protection.

Also, sometimes I'll stick some rocket launchers in so they bombard the airfields http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif.

If you want a good, rough, rape to happen to you, take a bomber (or a P-38 or P-47with rockets and bombs), go to QMB, Crimea map, all by yourself, and see if you can sink one of those ships. I was showing the game off to a friend, attacking the AAA barges with HVARs from a P-38 (a pair of rockets sinks one barge), and I'd get maybe one barge sunk before the other two, and the larger warship, would just tear my little P-38 into itty peices. I don't think I've ever been reamed so hard and frequently as just then. It was so bad it was funny.

The bounce...wich includes the other options aswell.
Wider term of the bounce is just to catch someone at an disadvantage angle or any pursue-situation. The initially best positioned normally wins.

Getting bounced, getting shot by the mate of the bandit I'm trying to shoot down, engaging bandits when I've just taken off and I'm low on E, crashing to the ground during a failed BnZ.

And often getting shot while I look at other people's planes on external views... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/34.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif

I've been messing about with V-1 rockets bombarding airfields.

I tend to set them up so there is at least 1 (and at times up to 3) V-1 landing in the vicinity of an airfield every 30 secs!!! Spawn and take off, else you will probably have something break on yer aircraft!!!!

Hmm..tricky question. I'd say all of the above, but in differing amounts.. A breakdown of my flying career, as measured by cadavers:

THE DEAD AK LIST
(figures estimated, mostly. "*" represents accurate figure)

Ground Collisions (pilot error): 50
Air Collisions: 15
PK's: 3*
Ground/vehicle AAA (on strafing runs):10
Flak: 2*
Unpowered/field landings: 8
Own dropped ordnance: 2*
Bomber Gunners: 20
Shot off own tail (as gunner): 1*
Killed as gunner: 6
Friendly fire: 2
Jet-related engine fires:5
Enemy fighters: 15

The 40 ground colissions mostly ocurred during my learning phase... That figure has increased only slightly over the last few months.

Later,
Ak
