[Note: That link is for the North American store. If you are not from North America, be sure to order from the international version of the website @ https://www.musterbrand.com/ . There is also a "female" version of the jacket (https://us.musterbrand.com/countdown-99/la-liberte-female-329) which seems to be different enough that I shouldn't speak to the quality of it in this review.]

I recently got an email from Musterbrand - a German clothing brand that produces some really awesome looking coats (mostly) inspired by video games - saying they were having a pretty big end of/beginning of year sale. Among these was a coat inspired by Arno's robes. If you've ever looked into buying AC gear, you'll know that the really cool looking hoodies from China end up being very (http://www.amazon.com/DJT-Oblique-Zipper-Hoodie-Casual/dp/B00M1I3UJM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1453613352&sr=8-1&keywords=assassin's+creed+hoodie) poorly (http://www.amazon.com/Rulercosplay-Assassins-Connor-Kenway-Hoodie/dp/B00ZR3ZMRG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1453613352&sr=8-2&keywords=assassin's+creed+hoodie) made (http://www.amazon.com/Oblique-Zipper-Jacket-Cosplay-Costumes/dp/B018KIGNJU/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1453613352&sr=8-17&keywords=assassin's+creed+hoodie). Ubiworkshop produces some really awesome and good quality hoodies, but their stuff is pretty expensive. Musterbrand is expensive as well, but considering the sale (99 USD* down from 299), I figured I'd give the jacket a shot. I just finished playing Unity and quite liked the game.

Appearance:

First, it should be noted that this is NOT a 1:1 copy of Arno's robes from AC Unity. It is not meant to be. If you are afraid that the jacket will look too nerdy - as if you are cosplaying by wearing it - don't worry. I have received many compliments on it from peers and adults. If anything, people will think it is a military jacket.

The jacket I received looks just like the photos included on the website. The material feels sturdy and the details are very beautiful. The jacket includes detachable pieces - a hood, a collar, and two cuffs. The collar and hood zip on to the same part of the jacket, so you cannot wear both at the same time. Unlike most fan video productions of AC, they really nailed the look of the Assassin's hood on this coat. The collar and cuffs look like leather in the image, but they are not. They are some other type of fabric, but it still looks good. I personally prefer to wear the jacket with the hood and no cuffs.

Functionality:

The jacket is very warm. It has what feels like a satin lining, and the thick material is great for keeping out the cold. The collar of the jacket doesn't close all the way to your neck, so it might be a good idea to wear a scarf as well. Attaching and detaching the hood/collar/cuffs is very quick and easy to do.

My biggest complaint about this jacket is the way the arms are sewed. While the rest of the jacket fits me perfectly, there is some restricted movement due to how the arms are attached to the body. The arms feel very comfortable in a neutral standing position, but if you move your arms to the side or above your head, you will really notice it. I am usually a Medium and ordered this jacket in a Medium, so I considered that maybe I should have ordered it in a Large to avoid this issue. I had my 16 year old brother try the jacket on (he is a small/xtrasmall), and he still had this issue. If I had paid $300 for this jacket, I would have been more upset than I am. While this flaw is noticeable with minimal movement actions (driving), it is not horrible. Maybe this isn't the best jacket to wear if you intend to go free running.

Price:

99 USD is actually pretty cheap for a nice peacoat/jacket, depending on where you're buying from. Shipping was $10 and it arrived within 2-3 days. Considering the original price of 299 USD, I'd say this jacket is definitely worth the price. Had the jacket been full price, I don't know if I could recommend it as strongly, especially to college students/recent graduates.

Verdict:

I love this jacket. The details look great (you can see most of them on the website), the color is great, the material is great, and it's just an awesome looking piece of clothing. If you're worried that it will look too much like a cosplay, don't. It will remind people of AC if they're familiar with the series, but it looks natural and fashionable. If you don't mind some limited arm movement, then you'll likely be very happy with this jacket.

Photos:

The US East Coast got hit by a pretty big storm today, so I figured that'd be as good as time as any to pose for some photos.

If you have any questions about the jacket, please let me know! I do not work for Musterbrand and I did not get paid to write this review (I haven't even left a review on their website yet). I just figured some fellow fans might be interested in this deal or curious about the seller.

It seems that they only have sizes Large and up in stock, so if you're interested, it might be better to make a move sooner than later. The offer ends the 31st of January. If you did miss out, they have other coats from Unity, Rogue, and Syndicate still in stock (but are not on sale). I'm sure they will continue to make jackets for future games.

Heh, it would look foolish on someone as short as I.

Hey now. It's not like I'm super tall, either. Although, it might actually be an issue considering the smallest size available is a Large.

I'm 5'4 man, I got some broad shoulders but that would probably make it even worse XD.

Still it's a nice coat, that type of apparel isn't necessarily my style anyways though.

When you don the coat you gain the power to gentle push other people. They might give you a weird look but only because they wish they had that coat.

That coat looks awesome actually! Question though, is the coat "heavy" or not? I don't mind it, just that these kinds of coats have some weight for them, and I'm just curious about it.

The coat does have weight to it, which I think is a good thing. It is a solid material and doesn't feel cheap at all. That being said, it's not as if the jacket feels like it's weighing you down.
