Specs: i5 3330

8gb ram

This is better than the recommended specs so why is it running bad?

shut off Nvidia gameworks feature they are busted in the drivers

do not use Soft shadows they cause a huge hit in performance set shadows no higher then Ultra

the nvidia soft shadows were broken when the game first shipped it was fixed in a patch but the downside is they cause a huge hit in performance and a large FPS drop

blame Nvidia .. for screwin up their drivers and breaking the gameworks features

18 . Nvidia gameworks problems , if your getting crashes with an Nvidia GPU in the game, try to not use the Nvidia gameworks features , these were busted in the recent Nvidia drivers
please see the following threads about this problem .

and this one on the official Nvidia forums
https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/799274/geforce-drivers/nvlddmkm-keep-crashing-in-far-cry-4/ see pages 14 - 15

i run the game fine on an old core 2 quad with 8 gig of ram and an Asus Strix GTX 960 ..but i keep the busted Nvidia (lets break a game works ) features off

and have better more stable frame rates with older Nvidia Drivers .. i use the 347.52 driver in windows 10 as that was that last Driver from Nvidia that even mentioned FarCry 4

if your getting stutter in FarCry 4 open your Nvidia control panel

look in manage 3d settings
set maximum Pre rendererd frames to 1 or 3
set power management to prefer maximum performance
( i also set anisotropic filtering to 16X )

there is also a slider built right in you Nvidia control panel to select between a quality mode and performance mode

so try changing that setting as well

your GTX 980 is a better card then mine ..but do not expect it to totally max out Far Cry 4 .. for that your gonna need 980's in SLI or a better single GPU

see this page on how hard Far Cry 4 is on a GPU , its much more demanding then other titles
