Another cool what-if ship was that superbattleship the Germans had on paper. Twice as big in length and tonnage as the Bismark with 22 inch guns. That woulda been a sight to see.

Hey, why have two battleships and an aircraft carrier when you can squeeze them into one?

I guess it will be harder to sink by torpedo attack. Still so far out! They may can do during peace time.

It wouldn't have lived long... a B-29 could've hit that thing from 30000 feet.

Hehe.. wouldn't need that big a bang. Twenty 1000 pounders ought to do the trick just nicely http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I don't think because it is moving target. Anyone with powerful binoculars can look up at bomber and give signal to turn hard when see bombs start falling. It is just my best guess. Also Bombers have to search for BCV and try to line it up in bombsight from 30K as BCV may go zipzap and get flak from fleet.

That and the sheer amount of fire it could direct into the air between all that triple-ack and carrier-based fighters.

Yeah, but if the Japanese could have built something as crazy as that I'm sure the Americans could have built an orbital ion cannon to take it out http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

Good question...

It is true the Japanese would sometimes put so much superstructure up around their BB funnels you could hardly tell they were there.

bah, look at where the AA/AAA is and you will see that a few Torpedo bombers could easily take it out, or, actaully, just put a sub in the way of that this, and watch it sink.

Uh Huh? few Torpedo bombers? you need more and more Torpedos. One thing you forget about behind AA/AAA...they will have to fly pass CAP defensive line. Also I bet they will always keep Anti-submarine patrol in air as can see submarine easy in clear blue water at Pacific.

Remember the US had a number of fully-functional, long-range guided antiship missiles by late '45.

The bigger it is, the easier it is to hit it. There's a reason we don't build huge battleships or superdreadnaugts anymore.
