If your life depended on becoming an ace within three missions in the game, what fighter would you choose? For me it would be a Yak 3....

Good thing my life doesn't depend on it. That way I don't need to pick a uber plane.

Currently in FB? FW190 or P-51D are probably my best planes.

Amen. The new "uber" planes however are the Ki 84C, Spit, etc. Not saying they don't take skill, they're just some mean birds :| Those will certainly help you become an ace in 3 missions, lol

The 262 is good but you need a lot of will power not to bleed off speed. i'm getting Aces this evening, can't wait.

The J8A. Sure, it has a weak armament but it seems to be rather good at lighting enemies on fire.

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

The Go-229. It cleans up even the yp-80s :O

Uber plane, not the fastest but very meneuverable and you cannot bleed e. (do a dive from 2000m with no throttle, then zoom back up again to 2200m at full throttle, a perpetual motion device hehe)

BTW in regards to your sig. I no longer believe in the idea that russian planes were superior to the 109.

No offense to anyone but i see it as red propaganda. History just doesnt bear that claim out any more than it supports russian tank superiority claims. (not just in ww2 either)

Read up on how well trained jagd pilots/violinists actually were.

1 v 1 under 5k its still the LA-7

over 6k its still the K4

I still think the YP-80 is better than the Go. Faster, more agile, with more fire time, and better balistics and visibility than the Gotha, though I will admit, the six 0.50's don't have quite the same Reach Out and Kill Something (tm) factor as the dual MK103's do.

Oh, and reasonably flown the YP-80 turn the La-7 and 109K into lawn darts every time. The only time I even get damaged by piston engined fighters is if I do something patently stupid, like taking the tail off on one, because I got too agressive.

Though, that time I took the vertical stabilizer off on the underside of a Ki-84c was the only time I was able to succesfully land the plane upright, and with the landing gear still attached. Hmmmm...

But I admit , the best plane is P47 and Bf110 being a very nice surprise. I think I will switch my Sturmo with the later one.

The K-4 is the best IMHO, not in terms of roll and turn performance but its E-retention and climbrate makes it virtually untouchable. I believe that its climbrate might be too high. 28.6m/sec, even a 4000m doesn't seem right. But I could be wrong.

My own observation is that the He-162 and Me-163 are the best ...which is a problem.
From what I've read the He-162 was aerodynamically very unstable and was structurally unsound. I the game, it flys like a dream and rarely stalls. The Me-163 was incredibly prone to exploding due to volatile fuels. According to one source I've read, the total number of enemy planes brought down by Me 163s in the whole war was 14. Heck, I've shot down almost that many B-17s in six QMBs and never got shot down once (although I did exceed my critical mach number a few times and blew up) One of my few complaints with AEP is that the high performances of these planes is modelled with few of the downsides (other than wiht the He162 tempermental throttle conrols as with all early jets)
