Use is explained in the readme, np so far ...

... but what exactly does it do???

Does it auto-adjust the gun convergence?
Or was it just used to figure out the (more or less exact) distance to jour target?

For the last point there would be no use in the game for it because we don'T get the distance displayed (or do we and i just didn't see???)

I actually haven't really fine tuned my technique with the K-14 and I lead better using my head and my own intuition for calculating the lead on a target, however, its supposed to help a pilot get a good lead on a target at various deflection angles.

Its a primitive version of the modern day gunsight piper that has a computer calcuate the lead for the pilot and the pilot meerly places the gunsight over the target.

I think it was Douglas Bader who had the gyro sight removed from his Spitfire IX because he felt he was better doing his own lead. I can sympathize...but a great number of other Allied pilots used it to great effect.

Its supposed to account for deflection when tracking a target in a turn. Hence you do not need to calculate your own lead.

However, as the readme says you need to be steadily tracking the target and in a constant turn yourself.

The sight will then settle where your rounds will pass, put that point over your target and then fire away!

So far, I find it works best on targets that are not constantly changing direction and manuovering hard. In those situations I like to use the good old MK1 Lead guestimator http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Try some fights against Me-262 and He-162 using the YP-80 and Mustang... these situations are good for seeing the K-14 doing its stuff.

"As weaponry, both were good, but in far different ways from each other. In a nutshell, I describe it this way: if the FW 190 was a sabre, the 109 was a florett, or foil, like that used in the precision art of fencing." - Gunther Rall
