View Full Version : Graphical Glitches

So, unfortunately, there are a few graphical glitches still present in the game even after this patch. Creating this thread so I can simply send the link to ubi support instead of juggling the very touchy and inefficient file sharing system on the support site.

1. Using PCSS or PCSS ultra makes character models and objects have a strange bright "aura" or shimmer effect.

Here is a pic showing this:

2. Rain is still completely screwed up.

It's jagged, overblown, and fuzzy even with no light source. This is not an issue on consoles.

This does not happen in the prologue mission with Evie that takes place in the rain, so it is likely some issue with London forge on PC?

Changing texture quality from High to medium does not fix the issue, and neither does setting textures to low.

Also, I attempted updating all my drivers, for my graphics card, through windows update, for my motherboard, everything. Issue still persists so we can check that off the list.

Meanwhile, here is PS4 clip showing the same location with rain effects. It occurs in this video from about 3:45 to 5:50.

Here, you can see the issue is not present. Rain becomes illuminated and more prevalent near light sources, but not completely overblown and intrusive.

3. There are no blood effects when doing knife headshots while undetected, and smoke from chimneys disappears as you get close to them. It looks horrible. The smoke doesn't even hurt your view, so I don't understand why it would be anything but a glitch. Certainly not a stylistic choice, I hope.

Here's a vid showing both issues

I had nasty texture flickering in one of the DLC missions just using all High settings with 1.21. Plus the performance is no better. I had to go back to all Med and 900p with AO Off just to get a steady 40 FPS, and carriage riding is only about 35. Worse yet, it looks like they merely sabotaged the LOD to try and optimize. I saw a flag draw into view right above Evie's head while ascending with the rope launcher, and that never happened before. Looks like Ubi is using the same practices Nvidia often does when they "optimize" their drivers.

OP has been updated

Also, draw distance/LOD confirmed to be exactly the same afterall. Took too pictures with same exact settings (except at slightly different day times, (the later one during evening is the newer one, post patch) But as you can see, the LOD is exactly the same

However, the game has very VERY erratic LOD issues.

Look at the buildings to the upper right-the LOD still has them at highest quality models.

And yet, look at the buildings to the left of Jacob, at the far middle left. They are closer to him than the ones at the right, and yet are in low quality state.

One thing I noticed is that there have been a few changes (for the worse) to foliage and smoke effects, even worse than some post-e3 footage. Will make comparison as soon as possible.
