A lot of posted good comments but as usual they are in a huge thread and probibly never get read.

"Nimits

Luthier,

I don't think anyone (well, least ways not myself) wants Pacific Fighter to be an Add-on along the lines of AEP. We were more just hoping for compatability and interactability between the two.

Personally, this would be one game I would be willing to pay $50-$60 for without even reading reviews."

Luthier and team:

This is how I feel about this issue:
I would like to see PF as a standalone sim that ships with FB and ACE included. Why?

1) All new buyers would get FB (and the Eastern Front) too.
2) We'd be able to fly over the Eastern Front and the PTO all in one sim.
3) We'd all be able to fly together on Hyperlobby (don't want to buy PF? Fine, play on FB/ACE-specific servers and we can still fly with you).
4) It'd be a shame not use all the wonderful planes that are already in FB (some(/most?) of which actually flew in the PTO).
5) We would still be able to recreate historical battles online like we do now, it's all up to the serverhosts/mission builders.
6) We would be able to make up hypothetical scenarios using a mix of planes (Japan vs Germany in a battle over Soviet, anyone?).
7) We'd make the greatest WW2-sim even better!

I for one wouldn't mind paying full price to buy FB again to get PF. I don't think anyone has to worry about the planesets in use online. There's a mix-and-match going on right now ("Tally ho! Wait...is that...it is! Chaps! Tally 4 Zeros over Caen!") and I for one would love to pit a Corsair against a Fw-190 (even though I actually prefer historically correct planes regarding time and place). Like I said, it's all up to the mission builders and server hosts to bring history to life.

Also, the argument concerning number of discs and installation size is non-valid. Look at UT2004. Six CD's and 5 GB installation size. Lots of people are buying it, and noone's complaining. MS FS2004 is pretty hefty too. (Another thing regarding UT2004, they added vehicles and modified it, but it still plays on UT2003-servers. If they can do it, so can we!)

So please include FB/ACE in PF and give us the best of both worlds under one roof."

"Killjoy2k2
I don't mind if it is an addon or Standalone.

If it is standalone then it should be fully netcode compatable with ILFB/ACE, so people with PF can join FB/ACE servers but not use the extra PF aircraft, But FB/ACE users cannot join PF."

So inconclusion PF has everything! if it is a standalone game, Then people with PF can join and play with the people without it.

If it is an addon for ACE, then it is compatable anyway.

It just has to be compatable on the NET.

Oh, Luthier, is that a dev update of the Flak accuracy shooting at a bailed out pilot? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/mockface.gif

O, how I want to hold you,
To feel your breath
And hear your laughter in my ears.
To look into your eyes
And see myself in there.
Caress you with my lips.
To hold your hands in mine
And find the hidden smile in your dimple
That makes you irresistible
And stops the breathing in my chest.
To be with you when you are weeping,
To wipe away the tears and take away the sorrow.
To watch you while you are sleeping
Like there is no tomorrow.

And with a tender kiss to wake you up.

having all of FB:Aep in the FMB of PF would be awesome

if we didnt ever get told its the same game engine i guess we wouldnt be so hopefull

but its the thought of having the FMB full with FB as well as PF that is just so cool to just give up hope on it

Well, maybe they want everyone to buy 3 games instead of 1. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Tell me If I have this Wrong Guys!

I am putting myself in the shoes of the Game Developers here, they love what they do of course.
However they or not in this for free.
That means if you do not buy PF, ( and who wouldnt) you dont get a free ride into any Carriers ops scenario in the Pacific.

AEP was 1$ per plane, and given the number of FP planes and maps, its worth even more money, even if FP is only land based Pacific.

Everyone knows PF will be realy cool and everyone will love it.

The only reason people are not sure about PF because they don't want to have to choose who to go with (like in UBI.com there is the ACE or FB) and people want PF to do all.

Also it is not just Multiplayer people are bothered with it is single player too.

Thats why people do not want it to be standalone.

1)If it is standalone and just PF, people wont like it as MUCH! but will still get it.

2)If it is standalone and has everything and is compable with everything, everyone will love it.

3)If it is an Expansion it has to be compatable and everyone will love it. - Developers think people will not pay much for an expansion? think again just make the price full price.

Include all the data from FB and AEP in PF and offer a rebate for owners of the previous.

But it won't happen, FP will read files from ye olde FB install and that is how the compatiblity will work.

Solution:

If you want to play FB again, reach up, open the CDROM, take out PF, put in FB, close the drive.

If you stick to your methadone program, the urge to fly the La-7 will fade.

For the record, not everyone wants it compatible.

If you want any semblence of historic accuracy, you cannot include Europe in a Pacific war.

I still haven't seen a good reason to have it all on one cd other than to create "what if" scenarios and the fact that people are too lazy to switch between games.

In the end this is all I want, it doesn't matter how it happens. I want to be able to fly online with all the aircraft from all 3 games available. Whether PF is a brand new game or add on, the more planes the better. Cost doesn't matter b/c I will get it no matter what -- even if it is not compatible with FB and AEP -- although I do want it to be.

-Nice B5 reference, it just so happens I am listening to B5 music right now.
