The story in short:
June 13th 1952 a DC-3 flying radio recon for
Swedish Air Force over the Baltic Sea was shot
down by Sovjet fighters(Mig-15) All eight crewmen missing
June 15th An uninflated life raft with shrapnel from 23-mm shells was found
June 16th a Catalina searching for the DC-3 was
shot at by Sovjet fighters, makes emergency
landing. Crew unharmed

December 18th 1991 Sovjet Defense Ministry
admits that the DC-3 was shot down by Sovjet
fighters over international waters

June 10th 2003 DC-3 found by private seach party
June 27th Decision is taken to salvage the DC-3
during fall.
Fall 2003 Several attempts to salvage the DC-3
are done but aborted due to bad weather and
technical difficulties. Wings, engine parts,
radio equipment and wheels are brought up.
December 4th To not have the plane break up when
lifting decision is taken to postpone the final
lift to spring
December 5th Forensic detectives (or whatever
you call those people) identify the remains of
the DC-3s commander Alvar Ӟlmeberg

March 19th 0.20 2004 The fuselage brought up by
submarine-rescue-ship HMS Belos.
