I'm very enthusiastic about the coming of Silent Hunter 3! Nevertheless, it seems to me VERY IMPORTANT to foresee the possibility for the users of SH 3 to play on line against the users of DC!! The best IA will indeed never worth the human intelligence!! Moreover, it is much more interesting to play on line against a destroyer (for example) than to play with (or again) a submarine, as it is planned already in the actual version of SH3! Is it foreseen a more modern version of DC, in order to play on line with SH3? (It would be a good economic point for Ubisoft because, rather than to sell only 1 game (ie Silent Hunter3), Ubisoft will have the possibility to sell 2 complementary games (ie Silent Hunter 3+ the new version of DC!!)The game SH3/DC will have to be very "stable" on line (like the game "Counter Strike"), on the contrary of SH2/DC where many Buggs and problems prevent to play normally on line... It will be great if the Devteam could answer me about this very important point!! Thanks in advance!!

The developers would like to make a new version of DC. I guess it depends on sales, SH3 Add-ons and other projects.

I would like to see a new DC, personally speaking. With the new crew stuff and graphics it would be great fun. I like the idea of taking command of something like the Second Support group and Bombing around the Western approaches with fouor or five Black Swan class sloops ( The prettiest warships ever built http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif ) or struggling across the Atlantic in winter with a convoy has a LOT of appeal.

As for interplay. This was a big reason that SH2 was so borked so maybe doing a playable warships add-on (after a pacific one,) is the best way to go.

AI is predictable. DC human player DDs wouldt be predictable. Human players are not bound to the rules of gameplay. We have to have it! SHII has DD human players,Enigma does, and Dangerous waters does. I would agree for a wait till DC was ready too and they could ship SHIII and a new DC together. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

You know what would be REALLY cool?

A game where several people would command a U-boat together, the same with the destroyers, and then they'd work together like 2 teams.

Only it'd probably be very boring only being able to do certain things in the boats and leaving everything else to other people...

Definitely need SH3 to be able to connect with DC, but wouldn't it be great to be able to play against human A/C pilots too? I would love to be able to be able to pilot an aircraft in the game. One day play as a sub, the next a destroyer, the next a pilot. SH3 vs DC vs IL-2 sounds good to me, but that's too much too soon. How about SH4 vs DC2 vs IL-2 ?

Just have an add-on for the different sims to interact together. While your online, any encounters will be against not only the AI but humans too. We could really have a real war then.

Playing online is really fun and challenging, but...

...we still need a meeting with other players.

Not the best way to simulate a surprise attack, since we are forced by this time restriction.

I'll do my part to help sales a bit. I already plan on buying 3 copies. One for me, One for the wife and one for my father. Lets get the word out about SHIII. The more the better. I got everyone at work excited about SHIII by just word of mouth. Two of them are old SHII players and 5 are DC players. I was supprized they didnt know. The power of word of mouth can yield good possibilities. Lets get the numbers up there so DC2 can be born. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif Good post! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

So how DOES DC work with SHII? Because of the time compression in SP, how is multiplayer different? How do they meet together?

In fact... it wouldn't really be that bad of an idea if you could use time compression online unless you were near an enemy, say you could detect his screws, or have visual contact. For looking for the enemy everyone would use TC and then it'd go to normal time.

i wish to see hmm. Best is to say game named "Warship Command" With options to command several type of ships, include DD, CL, CA, BB or even CV with own planes onboard. If it would work in multiplayer with SH III then championship of the world in sea sims.
