I have started to play a campaign,as a 109 F2 pilot and I got real surpriced when I engaged an I-16 from behind and it just exploded after a few shots.Happend twice in that mission. From that moment I fell in love in the 15 mm cannon http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.Anyway,now something strange. It was a cloudly day, rather thick overcast, when I heard this aircraft, wich sound reminded me of a V1!.It had that low pulsing sound, a few tones deeper and slower than the V1 but uncanningly similair. What kind of AC has that sound?Or,maybe the sound just bounced around in the thick layer of clouds (if it can do that?)wich made that sound.

It may have been one of the little U2 Russian biplanes or the I-16 or I-153. All three of those have a distinctive Briggs & Stratton feel about the engine note http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

I used to fly the Finish Buffalo-campaign, and got the same surprise too. The .50's sometimes blew the little rata up, making me jump in my chair. I have flown through the debris cloud a few times (I hardly had any choice), but my plane got through OK.

Fly friendly!

Heads-on firing was not a safe practice after all ?
Jussi Huotari: It was not specially recommendedâ.....
And later, as the Russians were armed with 20mm cannons, it was unwise to meet them heads-on

Not true! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I was flying in a P-38, on warclouds, I saw the tracers and then poof, I disintigrated. Mostly into nothing... a few bits here and there... but not anything recognizable...

Most troubling for the new player, let me tell you.... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
