I was watching a show on Discovery channel last night and one the the top seven planes in the world was the 262. The channel went to some place(dont remember where it was I was watching StarTrek at the time) and a businnes was building 262s for people. One of the builders got in one flew it around the airport and landed it. of course he had the wheels down so that they can film it. He then landed and taxied it to the hanger, it was very interesting to see, they build them alomst exactly the way they were built in WW2. The gauges are the same, the paint job, of course the engines have been modified so as not to overheat and even the German crosses on the fuselage and wings are put on. Has anybody else come across this? I did a search on Google to see if I could find anything but nothing came back that was close to what I saw. Just thought I would share this with you guys and gals.

Not a joke.
I read something about it too. They replaced the engines with a modern jet instead of the Jumos. I don't remember exactly which one.

I believe it is a company that started out with an original 2 seat 262 and did the tooling from that one. Look here:

they use the williams engin in it and these are installed inside mock ups of the original engine cases, it isnt a April fool http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif, the first one ran off the runway but is nearly finished...... But if you dont want a proper aircraft buy yourself a new FW 190 info pictures and prices at http://www.flugwerk.de/

262 HaH..................climbing in through the window and having to set fire to its *** end to get it into the air will never catch on http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
