View Full Version : PF is still missing an "important" weapon effect

This topic is old (yawn) but still important.

Taking the C6 videos as a basis (PF will be released soon, so i guess there wont change much), i noticed that the 50. cals are still lacking the gun smoke effect.
I wonder why 1C simply ingnores them or doesn't simply care. But every WW2 aerial combat footage i have seen so far, clearly shows, that the 50. cals leave a nice white smoke trail behind the planes.

Oleg included the tracer smoke for the other ammo (this reminds me, why is the 50.cal tracer ammo still lacking their smoke?), which seemed to be important enough to be included. In fact, it is and it's realistic as everybiody can see in guncam footage of the Germans or the Russians. But why oh why didn't he put the 50.cal tracer smoke and gun barrel smoke in the game? Too much of an fps killer? Doubt that, as the tracer smoke doesn't cause any fps problems.
Beside the 50.cals, all other guns are lacking their barrel smoke trails as well. Is it just 1C beeing too lazy or what? Am i the only one, who bothers about that, each time you pilot a US plane and shoot someone down? Why does every other ammunition feature tracer smoke but the 50.cals doesn't?

I know it's a boring and old topic but why didn't they atleast fixed that for PF? And when you install PF into AEP, fix it for the rest of the game as well. Things like that are just beyond me. It's hard to understand why a developer, who raises the flag of realism each day he starts to work on the sims, leaves such obvious flaws in the game.

I know what you mean. I would love to see big thick smoke from the .50's.

Shouldn't be thick...actually rather light but even so it would be nice.

It may be a FPS consideration however...not sure.

There's a difference between a pair of MG's or a quad 20mm mount firing and the .50cals which fire more often and in greater numbers.

i'd rather see DEsynchronisation of the .50 on the plane to have a more "bullets river" effect.

Now, the .50s go out far too regulary, and constantly.

Why buy the sim if the 50's dont have tracer smoke? Thats a major thing!

Ive got no gunsmoke bullets in CFS2, with very nice 1% flight models,carrier ops,etc.. and endless missions / campaigns to write. CFS2 is still untouched by my standards.
