what is the best/most used voice communication for FB?

Never used any before...are they compatible with eachother or only work with players using the same system?

Looked on mudmovers and couldn't find any info...

Appreciate feedback or direction to the thread that may have covered this already.

Thanks and regards,

www.ventrilo.com (http://www.ventrilo.com) is the best of all. its like your phone clarity and has multiple channels for different wings of pilots on same ip.

Current version of TS with updated codecs is awesome. Channel switching, global whispering, ease of use, etc.. very little fuss and bam, you're yapping away. RW is ok but you need a 3rd party product for channel switching and even that requires a bit more know-how than TS where all that stuff is already integrated. Sound wise, TS seems more crisp and less crackly than RW. The only thing that I like about RW is that NASA sounding noise it makes when you end transmission..what's that called..vox?

We use RW but try to find the older version it is much better than the new one. I don't like TS quality is bad IMO.

2 things we need in FB:

why does nobody use the internal sound system of FB?

doesn't it do exactly what RogerWilco and thelikes do?

Has Oleg wasted all the time spent on this feature been for naught?

I can't use any of those systems properly cuz I'm behind NAT.

My squad mostly uses TS2. It works fine. If you're in a squad it makes the game tons better.

As for the comms in the game...don't know. I've never tried it. Don't know anybody who has.

re: NAT

you can use all those technologies.. TS, RW, Ventrilo .. you just need to forward the appropriate port to your PC from the machine that is doing the NAT

Roger Wilco, TeamSound, Teamspeak, BattleCom, tried 'em all I think.

Roger Wilco works as good as any.

The only one that seemed different was Ventrilo, with obviously the best sound reproduction by far, but also the biggest resource hog too, as they explain on their web site.

So Ventrilo would be excellent for voice-type squad meetings, but not a good choice for online combat if there are users with dial up connections.

Just my two pfennigs...

I'm using TeamSound, been using it since UnrealTournament was released and it's been working great (they've released updates of course). Sound's fine and it doesn't slow down the computer (didn't even notice it on my old Celeron 450 MHz with 128 Mb RAM).

Get it here: http://www.teamsound.com/

(Yes, you can sort people out in channels and use a separate server just as in TeamSpeak...)

My squad has been using TS for ages (we have a dedicated server) It is the best I have used, out of TS, RW and BC.

We have tried them all with many types of games and Ventrilo is by far the best. We have ours on a OC128 server for 10$ per month so the 56kers have no problems with it.

So, Ventrilo is the best and Teamspeak is second?

BTW, we use TS.

I have had many problems connecting with pals using Roger Wilco. The sound is not that good.I have used Battlecom for a long time and switched to Teamspeak because of the better sound. Also Battlecom is no longer officially supported and has been bought out by Microsoft and modified and released as Gamevoice.I tried Ventrillo and the sound was good but it seemed to interfere with the game sounds.

BC is probably more modem friendly than TS but it seems to depend on the web. Some nights those on modem have no problem with TS and it sounds like a phone and some nights it breaks up a little.(probably did not make the sacrifice to the net gods.)

Teamspeak is very easy to setup and has many nice features.

Heck.They are all free.Try them.
