I have been flying IL2 and FB ever since it came out. Boy did I suck. I never could hit anything and just could not fly some airplanes at all (FW190). Today I got a new Saitek Evo joystick to replace my two year old Wingman. Turns out I was not a useless pig, my joystick was a useless pig. Everything handles so much better. The FW190 flys like a dream. My shots are on target. Oh god, I could just cry.....sniff.

I bought the logitech wingman when I picked up IL2-so I never really knew it was a loser. I just thought the sim was hard. By searching strings in this forum, I was able to figure out that it was the stick and not the man. Thanks to all who contributed. Without this forum, I would have put that dang sim away long ago. I learned a lot about flying here, and solved a few technical issues as well.

Why do I usually see 8/10 players dissapointed with Logitech joysticks? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I used to love my old Logitech stick with three hats. It had heaps of options and worked well (until Windows suddenly stopped detecting it for some reason). But it, like my more recent Force 3D, had its problems mainly in the area of centering. Subtle movements aren't possible and it makes IL-2/FB far more difficult than it ought to be. My next stick certainly won't be a Logitech. I planned on a HOTAS Cougar from Thrustmaster for playing LOMAC, so it may give me a better run in IL-2.

I`ve always been happy with my Logitech and just got a new 2.4 cordless, but....
I`m thinking of getting a different stick. I`ve had Logitech for 3-4 years and always assumed it was kinda normal to fiddle with the joystick sensitivity thing before you could use it. Maybe it`s just the fault of this stick itself.

I have never seen any difference between any joystick. And that includes even old analog, two button gameport sticks. All that fancy smancy
new stuff like USB and USB digital never helped me control a plane any better. Only a year ago I was still flying with a simple two button analog jobbie and then got a newer one but noticed no improvement in control. I still have my old analog joystick and I can hook it up and beat anybody ( or do just as well ) with a fancy stick unless he's just simply a better pilot than I am of course.

That may take a while..... get a X45 now... use it as a button bay and a throttle...

I had the Wingman force 3d - thought IL2 was impossible. Couldn't hit a barn door from 20 yards. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

Got a MS FFB2 and never looked back http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I was happy with my logitech sticks (for simpler sims than FB), until I recently got a CH and found out what its like to fly with a real stick. I'm still a crappy marksman but at least there is hope for improvement now. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
