One thing I enjoy most about IL-2 FB is the good database coming with the software. However, with the last patches some objects were included that are not listed there, for example some of the new planes, like Spit IX or the LaGG's or the Tirpitz battleship.

I know you have done a lot of research and it would be very nice if you'd share your knowledge. It probably doesn't sell as good as "5 new planes" or so, but the patches are free anyway. :-)

It would be apprechiated very much. Thank you.

in the Spitfire description there is a mistake: operation Ramrod, not Ramroad...

If it's too difficult to include in the object viewer as a patch, a ReadMe file in a patch with the text descriptions and specs for the planes, ships, and new objects will do for me.

The decriptions ARE a big help to many people. For example, in my case I use it to tell the different variants apart, for planes that are in the game with several variants like the 109, IL-2, Yaks, 190s etc.

Agree completely. And not only viewer, also menues would need some tweaking... For example in Pilot's career if one wants to refly a mission, but with another loadout, now you have to leave career and go to main menu, and then return back into campaign...

Also this dividing on blue/red armies could be better. In QMB you choose red star and THEN you can select british or american markings... This was ok in original FB, but now is obsolete, or a bit of bias. There should be switch between allied and axis forces in general (and even that wouldn't be perfect - some countries changed sides during the war...)

And yes, I forgot the most important:

Why not gather all the descriptions for different versions of same aircraft under one description? So you would only choose between Fw190, Bf109,..., Spitfire, Yak,... and under this big description you could find descriptions for each version...

What do you think?

regards, tt

General description is not a good idea, because it would not be much better this way, but will take a lots of work.

The menu needs updating, say a list like...

MiG
LaGG
La
Yak

...and when you click Yak then you can select from among dozens of Yaks. Scrolling down that long list is terrible interface, and then your mouse moves off the scroll box and it closes making you scroll again...

....at il2skins, when I scroll down the aircraft list I tremble in FEAR that my mouse will move off the scroll box, no matter how many times I intellectually tell myself that il2skins boxes won't mess you up if your mouse moves off the box. I spend too much time in FMB. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Also, maybe make a new section with weapons?
Im pretty sure all these new prefixes for bombs (etc) have caused some confusion.

Grr, yes that's definitely needed.

I had to do an Internet research to understand what the hell Sturmovik's M-13 rockets were there for... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

Why not to include ROSS_Youss's excellent IL2Compare? It may not be as pretty as the object viewer, but it gives some nice info and charts of data taken from the game..

this is not really a BUG or an ERROR or somthing like that but it always made me laugh

according to the object viewer, the Yak9 and Yak9D have VERY STRONG ARMAMENT

please

one UB MG and one ShVAK 20 mm cannon
THATS a strong armament?????

ok the UB was a terrific MG and the ShVAK was a good cannon, but still, thats FAR from being a very strong armament. in 43 what I would consider a plane with a strong armament would be the 190A5, or the Airacobra, or a G6 with the Mk108, or the P-47C

but certainly NOT the Yaks

What's weird is that many objects (mostly ships, if I'm correct) disappeared from the viewer in 2.01, most importantly the Tirpitz.

Capt._Tenneal

I never remembered the Tirpitz being in the Object Viewer at all. It should have been there at 2.00 (AEP out of the box) but it wasn't, neither in 2.01 or now in 2.04 .

Actually the AEP updates to the Object Viewer were sloppily done and seemed rushed. Some other "highlights" :

-- I saw Cyrillic characters in the info for one plane (forget which) in the English version.
-- The Spitfire V specs were in the English system (mph) instead of Metric like the rest of the other aircraft. Thankfully it seems to have been fixed in 2.04, because it's in kph now.
-- There was a write-up for the Ki-84a & -c, but not the -b.

I'm pretty sure that at the very least some ships did disappear from the Viewer, even if the Tirpitz didn't. All I know is that the list got shorter http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
