I keep hearing about them. Is there a way to check on the performance of my installation?

Or is everyone just throwing around made-up numbers? :-)

Cheers

Two ways realy
When in game type the following in the chat window:

>fps START SHOW

or use a utility like FRAPS (which also lets you make screenshots and can record movies)...

to access the console hit <TAB> and <SHIFT> together;

Then type"fps START SHOW" and hit enter to display constent readout at top of screen.

To stop type"fps STOP SHOW"

Not to hijack Oso2323's topic, but I was wondering the same thing. I have done the fps Start Show but it doesn't show up. Do I need to have Speedbar turned on?

You must be in CONSOLE COMMAND by putting the ">" character on first position of chatline!
Then "fps START SHOW" .... the whole thing should look like this :

">fps START SHOW"

notice that console commands are CASE sensitive too!
Try ">?" or ">? command" to get help on console commands.

Is there a tool, with FRAPS or otherwise, to get AVERAGE frame rate? I see average frame rates discussed, but do not know if this is a rough guess or not.

Bring up the chat window and type in >. This will bring up the command console.

Then type... fps SHOW START

But this is for online play.

For offline hit Shift TAB to bring up the command console.
