What's a Sandel like? Is it bitter or mild?

THBF109, is that a real Luger?

Btw: where can you buy these things and will they come through customs in countries where ammunition is illegal? I love them!

BREAK! BREAK!
Nevermind...

Mohnson, Sandels is a very soft, tasty lager. Too soft almost, so I prefer it not for sauna or boozing but as a food drink.

Sandels was a general in the finnish war (1808-1809). The Finnish army (under swedish rule) lost thanks to non-existing support from the king and finland became a part of the russian empire.
For the most part finland had autonomy under russian rule until the "oppression years" in the eve of the empire, and the national spirit greatly grew during the 19th century resulting in independence in the aftermath of WW1.

Yes, it is a real 9mm Luger (ie. Parabellum). You can buy them anywhere but in most countries you need permits. I would not try to buy one without. Inside EU even guns can be mailed in common mail with no problem though.

It's a nice peace of weaponry.

I was talking about the opener, not the Luger. I don't even want to own a gun, but the .50 or 30mm opener is great! Do you have any idea where you can buy them?

Nice looking Luger, the bluing is really nice.

The bluing on mine shows a little more holster wear. The bore is spotless. It was taken in France by a relative, but I don't know any more than that. Mine is marked "1936" and "S/42" (NAZI manufacture). Grips are not original, but all other parts are and match the serial number. I've got the magazine loading tool as well.

You guys in the USA get all the fun stuff. You can drive when aged 16, you have (legal) guns and cheap gasoline (it's 1.25 Euro a liter here (Netherlands). But then again, we get to drink beer when 16 (Netherlands and most European countries excapt Scandinavia).

We should combine the best of both continents.

BTW: Your Luger looks mighty fine. Love them. I believe a lot where taken to the allied countries as war-trophies. Not to suprising, they're beautiful.

Thanks! Yours looks good too. I have some of that holster wear too but leather holsters do that and I think it actually looks better with some wear.

Here is another piece of history, a Mauser C96:
http://kotisivu.mtv3.fi/thilakari/Kuvat/sekal/pyssyt.jpg

I really like old guns, many of them are increably accurate. With either of these I can hit what I am aiming at way better than with my modern stuff.

BTW. im from Europe. We can buy guns and have legally sex at 16, but the dangerous things like driving cars and drinking alcohol only after 18. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

It's a shame I can't bring home one of the 5"/54 projectiles home from my ship. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I do have a Depleted Uranium 20mm CIWS round though

Sorry, didn't mean to do that. But, you still got the bigger one and in the end that is all that matters http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif The 30mm is way more macho than my tiny .50 cal - no matter what the P51 croud says http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

PS. Niin, olikse Hornetist?

Yep. Han solo used Mauser with lot of make up. German weaponry is being used in movie industry a lot. Remember Aliens (Alien 2)? Those machineguns they were carrying? German MG43!

THBF109, that sure looks like a Russian 12,7 piercing incendiary.

Your right, never compared it to my .50 BMG brass and it seems to be somewhat bigger. i only assumed it is BMG but I was wrong. A friend of mine brought it back from UN mission on Golan.

So if I were to order a gun from the US (I live in Holland) without a permit, it would be possible? Sorry, but this sounds highly unlikely to me. I don't think it would get through customs and the people at the post office would probably get suspicious too.
