Don't shoot people on your own team.

Don't deliberately target the same player over & over again (it sometimes happens accidently, that's not an issue).

Don't shoot at a target that someone else has already engaged. Bear in mind that a person may temporarily disengage when his target tries to force an overshoot so that he can maintain his speed/altitude rather than slowing down to stay behind, but he is still "on" the target.

If a plane is obviously going down, don't waste your ammo on it. Any airplane that is burning and the fire hasn't gone out for more than 20-30 seconds will go down eventually, just let 'em go (but stay away from his guns http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)

Read the briefings carefully. There is often information there about target location and the location of other aircraft on your side. Understanding that information will help you to identify what it's safe to shoot at and what is friendly.

Many servers also include additional rules in the briefing about markings and attacking airfields (vulching). Follow these rules.

Please note that many briefings are set up in two stages. When you first enter the server, the first stage is a general briefing that may contain server rules, any historical background, instructions for joining a voice comms server, ping limits, icon settings etc.. that apply everyone who joins the game. Once you choose a base/plane, the briefing changes to a team specific briefing that may include courses, altitudes, targets and mission assignments. Make sure you read both stages and you should have all the information you need to avoid getting kicked or stepping on peoples toes.

U will notice that some take fb flying very seriously and sometimes these Individuals act a bit strange even bad. Everybody knows about the bad ones and try to see their contributions from the humorous side. Just dont wory about it. most players are really nice blokes, they just arent visible in the same way.

Generally many will help when asked questions.
Everybody makes mistakes in the beginning. The supercool aces were also noobs once.

Try not to start or continue arguments online. They always tend to turn nasty.

Nice players tend to bond. These bonds can often be seen at the GreaterGreen server. Thats why I like it. At the GG forum there are discussions and it is fun to see more of the players personalities shine through their texts. Many also have a genuine interrest in planes and history and its very interresting to hear their views on such topics.

Remember to record tracks of your sessions so u can examine your efforts more closely, and also watch how other players behave.

I'm not very good but have tried online flying quite a bit. I have done some major flaws: shot down team mates, crashed into team mates, crashed into targets (planes), shot at targets other have engaged etc. This is usually by mistake or due to lag. Lag may cause you to loose control of your plane and/or causes you to loose any kind of situational awareness.

I usually try to send a "sorry" when I know I have made a foul out of myself. That is not always easy because things happen very fast, and you might not even be aware of what actually happenend.

Only once have I had any problems. I appearently stole a kill from this guy (his claim - could well be right). Then I might have shot him down by accident - I think we collided when attacking the same plane. Then he shot me down deliberately (maybe twice) for some kind of revenge! Finally we collided again and he got really pissed off. I actually think he ran into me because I had just taken off and tried to attack a low altitude bomber attacking our base. I hardly had any time to pick up speed. Then I left pretty frustrated.

Bottom line is that this is a very rare situation. Most of us do stupid acts occasionally because dogfighting is difficult. You loose control or misinterpret foo for friend occasionally. Most onliners tolerate that without making any fuss. Most of us do this for fun not for a living. So, please join us - I would love to shoot you down.

Buing IL2FB is great value for money online as well as offline.

Petter

Go ahead and buy it...period.

Then read Tully's post closely and the others' too. Set your reservations of online play aside and, as Nike would say, "Just do it"

Don't vulch with your guns. If you like vulching take the necessary risks and be a man: take a bomber. Then you'll also become everyone's favorite target.

Miss UK-Dedicated too...

Hi,

Thanks for the support for UK dedicated!

I don't think I'm speaking out of turn here but UK dedi will not change to AEP until the dedicated software is out. And, that's only if Bonehead isn't still annoyed by the response he had in ORR on the issue.

Speaking as an UK dedi admin, I think there are a lot of people who want it back to normal and hopefully this will be sooner rather than later.

We're working on new maps (I have a few, anyway) so we can hit the ground running when the dedi. software does finally appear.

See you all when it's AEP-enabled.

Cheers,
Norris
