Hi I can not get this game working, a few months ago it worked fine, not one prob but now it just crashes, the only reason im posting this is because i cant find anything to fix it. Tried loads of different drivers for the graphics and all hardware in my system. Re-installed the game, changed graphic settings.
The game runs fine in in-door areas, but a soon as it goes out side it stutters for a sec then its fine then a few secs later screen goes black and locks out. Here are my specs.

Defrag lately?

Also, a few months ago you were using Directx 9.0b, Cat 4.5, Win SP1. The order of install of the new drivers has a big impact on fps in Far Cry.
Did you install patch 1.1 and 1.2?

P4-HT 3.0 GHz, Win XP Home SP1, Intel D865PERL Chipset
Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB, 256 bit (385/344), Directx 9.0C, Cat 4.9 beta

I had both patches and then re-installed. I will try defraging, but all my other games work and run smoothly. I currently have the un-patched version of farcry.
I have the radeon 9700 128mb

I had a crash problem too, on my older crappy video card. It only occured when I played on really high settings. It also only happened outdoors. I think it had something to do with the card not being able to handle the game's needs. When I turned the settings down more, it never crashed. I'm not sure if this is your problem, though.

I have tried the game on highest and lowest settings, game still crashes. Its happening on the first level as soon as i go out side but i know theres a problem with the first level but this happened with my saved games in later levels, has anyone else got the same video card and experiencing the same probs.
thanx

Do u have anything overclocked.

Also try making your pagefile 1024mb.(double your ram)

Do u get any other crashes in other games.

And lastly. Check your sounddrivers as well, as i've had major probs in the past with sounddrivers.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

What do you mean by "updated the motherboard drivers?

What motherboard do you have? Nvidia is the Chipset on the board, as in Nvidia nForce chipset.

Never worked with an nForce board, but you need to update:

1) the mothberboard's BIOS,
2) the Chipset drivers; and
3) the Sound *chip* drivers.

Three things.

This may or may not help your present issue, but its the next step.

Also, if none of the above solves the issue, then you may have a *Heat* issue.

Do a Google for the program "Motherboard Monitor". Load it and set it up for your motherboard and set it up to "Log your temps every 30 seconds with 60 entries or more. After you experience the crash, check the log entries for your High/Low/Average temps, particularly the temps at the moment of the crash.

Also, what settings and resolution are you playing at?

Luck!
