I have tried it. I had the demo, it worked pretty well. I taped a red LED to a ballcap and it was almost always on center. They still offer the demo version.

The program designed by Mousevision for gaming is called Cam2Pan, and I bought it. I love it, and it is a great "poor man's" track ir. It is actually easier to set up than Freelook, but the results are the same. Play in a room by yourself, and make sure that the lighting is as described in the readme. It does tend to drift a little, but great results can be achieved with a cheap webcam. Download the trial, which is the full working version, and give it a spin. If you are still using it after a couple of weeks, it may be for you. I do not use it all the time, but its great once in a while. Let me also say that there is a difference between this program, which uses the full spectrum, and Track IR, which isolates the infrared light . . . TIR is way, way better, and as soon as I stop throwing away my money, I will have one :P

Surprised no one ever caught on to this one, bit cheaper than a trackir.

I used the cam2pan demo.Once I got all the settings and the mouse sensitivity set it was good.I too put an led(green with usb connector)on top of my headset and it tracked very well in the dark.(I play with the lights out)

But since I play with no cockpit I did not bother to go beyond the demo.
