Just thought that instead of the ID letters, maybe a coloured dot would suffice to signify aircraft allaience! I think this would be a smaller hit on frame rate and allow us "cheaters" to I.d. enemy aircraft without resorting to having flying descriptions along side the other aircraft!

Actually a good idea. This should be an additional option among those different id letters as a further step to "no icons".

I've seen it on some older sim but cant remember wich one.

I suggest U post it in olegs readyroom. As it is a good option he might incorporate it in new sims , if it doesnt require too much rework.

Everything starts with a thought. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

What I do offline is no color and only aircraft ID type at 1.5K (~ a mile which is what I could routinely ID aircraft type accurately when I flew).

The label is black in color so it isn't a neon blue or red and while blending into the terrain is a couple of extra pixels to help spot in the washout.

Yeah my favourite icons setting is very close-in only, and only for one side (be it friendly or enemy). Black the prefered colour.

That's the way we have it set up at greatergreen. A quick "zoom" in to check silhouette helps outside of the icon range, and the closer you get, friendly icons only will become visible.
