Great movie. If this is your first then u got a future in moviemaking. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I like the way you build up and the timing with the music.

I'd give it 4 out of 5.

Nice one Finwolf!

Now then.... while I love the music and the way it starts out with a story telling feel to it (and ends like that), when the battle begins it's mostly a random blaze of gun cam shots. Not that they weren't quite cool by themselves, it's just that more controlled storyline in the middle would have been better. Uhm, I wonder if I'm getting across with my point here... probably a hard thing to accomplish anyhow. Perhaps making the Russians seem "badder" would be a good thing, they seemed more like defenceless sheep to me. An "oh no one of the good guys got shot down" would have accomplished that probably.

Also, I'm not sure I like all the flipping between first person cockpit view and third person externals... either you're following one guy in the schwarm, or your not.

Oh and another thing. Calling the 109s "Good" at the same time as showing the swasticas might be a little on the strong side for some people, although I really couldn't care less myself.

Other than that it was all very cool, especially the spine chilling music. And considering that it's your first real attempt I should really shut up and stop trying to ask for things when I don't really know what I want myself (I just read the preview of this post /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif )

Very well executed film! I very much liked the choosing of the time of day and sceanery. The guncam shots and dogfights are up to the point and quick, really good.

For being a new IL2-Ubi forum member, you have done a very good job at your first video, please make more! Really good work.

How come the Russian aircraft don't seem to be firing back, or taking evasive manoeuvres?

Did you set their loadout to "empty"?

This video is pure propaganda!/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Point taken. I know it was a little messy. I was more consentrated with the music and it connecting with the videofootage in a proper way. I have planned another tape with "Plot"... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

EXCUSE ME! Sorry the caps... wanted to have your attention.
Now... listen... the Blue "swastikas" are NOT symbols of nazism. Finnish Airforce had them long before the Nazis even came to power. The are the symbol of Von Rosen-family and also an ancient symbol for luck and power.
When Finns had those symbols on their planes they had NOTHING to do with nazis.
After the war, Finnish symbols were changed to blue-white roundels to avoid exactly this kind of prejudice but this is historical simulation, and as a Finn I'm very fond on using the correct marks.

I myself don't like Nazism, but I like the real symbols.
Forgive me for using them. I know they remind the Nazis symbol, bot on the other hand... Charlie Chaplin reminds Hitler... but was he a Nazi... NO!

But thanks for your tips. I will try to saticfy your needs in the future. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

They do. But Apparently it doesn't show in the movie.
I also like to tell you the "real" happenings if you like.
The four TB-3's were set to rookie and were easily shot down.No losses.

There were nine MiG-3's which were all shot down. They were also Rookies as my Wingmen were set to Ace. However two of my wingmen were shot down. And I myself recieved bad damage.

However for the purpose for the film, These things were of
course edited out. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

- This video is pure propaganda

Of course it is. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
But not too far from the truth. During the war, Finnish pilots had a terrifying reputation amongst the russian pilots. Many times russian pilots AVOIDED combat with the finns even when they had outnumbered them and had better planes.
Finns made great havoc amongst the russians.

Now this comes from my memory so I'm not sure about my facts but I bet someone will correct me.
The biggest airbattle between Finns and Russians had 16 finnish brewsters against 60 russian fighters of different types (YaK's, MiG's and Ratas at least).
The result: Finns lost 1-3 planes and 1 pilot. Russians lost 16 planes...

REMINDER! My facts might have SLIGHT misaccurances but you get the point.

Well done. It's been great to see the contributions brought by the Finnish part of the community since FB has come out.

If I could make a small critique, it would have to do with the smoothness of the playback. You've chosen a large resolution with little compression, which with a T1 connection I actually prefer. However, a detraction for me was some of the choppiness evident. It has to do with the resolution and the speed of your computer I guess. Pdog got his videos to be really smooth, maybe you can get some tips from him? I'm afraid I'm pretty helpless to actually help you along those lines.

Congrats on the movie. /i/smilies/16x16_robot-happy.gif

Yeah! Saw your video. It's quite nice. Like the music.
A personal opinion thou: Switch "In Flight Messages" OFF so those speedbars and wingman comments wont come to the film.

And yes. You're right. Lots and lots of time goes to these.
I spent three days making mine. (About 20 workhours.)

Of course most time was used on testing and getting familiar with the programs but still. But it's fun... I'm working on my next and hopefully get it done soon. I think you will like it...

Nice work, Finwolf! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif What did you use to capture the video?

Also, it looked like you were using a very high resolution. Without knowing exactly how you made the film, I'd guess that the high res may have been the cause of the choppiness.

All that aside, great work! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif I'd definitely like to see more from ya!

Fraps 2.0

I know that using high resolution caused the movie to be little jumpy... but that was my "newbie"-mistake.

In the future there shuld not be such problems... I hope
