View Full Version : So - What are the "noob" planes now??

I'm just wondering what planes people class as the "noob" planes now the patch has come.

In truth i have trouble telling - and i just saw someone refer to the fw190 as a "noob" plane.- i have always thought fw190 were quite hard to fly - and didn't have great maneuvarability

So is it still the yak3 and la7 or are there different ones - is the hurri still a "noob" plane?

I just want to know so i don't get classed as a "noob" online because i'm flying a plane that is good. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Anyone? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

1943 and before the Bf109 g2 is the best plane and therefore the 'noob' plane. After '43 I am not sure yet.

From the amount of 109s and FWs I seen flying and the lack of Hurris and Yaks I`d say the Axis planes could possibly hold the new `noob` plane. Honestly though the term `noob` has changed... I don`t think any plane is quite so easy to pick and fly as they used to be.

sheesh

how come i see the expression "noob" plane littered everywhere- all the time - yet when i ask a question like this hardly anyone responds - it's like people just call any plane a "noob" plane - just for the sake of it /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

To be honest I think the term noob is a bit too derogatory and spoils this place.

Before the patch I flew a Hurri Mk1 and post the patch I still fly the same plane.

Was I a noobie before? But post patch Im now an ace, or was I just someone who had tried a few planes and happened to like flying the Hurricane?

How can a patch increase my skills? From noob to experienced?

Who cares which aeroplanes people fly, just get on and do it, as that is what this game is all about.

please note the phrasing of my initial sentence "I'm just wondering what planes people class as the "noob" planes now"
not
"what are the noob planes now"

i too don't particulary like the term "noob" and the way many use it - aside from seeming ignorant it can also be very innaccurate and used by many as a form of insult. Also, very importantly, note my post is not entirely serious. - i am basically interested in what planes people consider to be the good ones (and whether THEY consider them to be "noob" planes). also what replies i get are unlikely to effect what plane i fly online /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

however it is surprising the amount of times i've seen the phrase "noob plane" thrown about in various threads people seem a bit reluctant to reply here- unless many have just not tested the post-patch planes enough./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

A "noob" plane is, from my observations, any plane that down's an inept pilot with poor social skills. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

A new VVS piloted plane can apparently be spotted by long streaks of black smoke above 4500m where full realism is on, on account of them not having a key bound to lean out the mix. Parts of them can also be spotted falling past your 190 after they tried to dive with you, followed by whining in the forum about "crippled La5" and "Luftwhiners".

A new LW piloted plane can also be spotted easily: they will be trying to turn with your Yak, La or better yet, I16, and they will start firing at about 1km out with their 108. Also watch for attempts to climb at 50 - 90 degrees away from your VVS plane with better power loading, followed by whining in the forum about climb rates.

I fly the Mig3 or the 109F mostly, and I find online play boring. The campaign is much more fun these days.

This is going to be a great topic. IF, and I do mean IF the axis planes are a little easier to fly now, the Lufteweenies will insist the planes were finally fixed. If its an axis plane...well...you've seen the posts.
I still think the hurri is a killer, not too fast but those cannons and it will turn with the best of 'em.
The La-7 and La-5 are still very tough to beat. F-4 is a bute.

Go to a "typical" server room and see what the majority of players are flying. I used to fly Axis most of the time just to even the sides. Now, I almost have to fly VVS to do my part to help keep them even.

Bottom line: The plane sets are more even now than they were before. The B&Z of the Axis planes is still effective, but an La7 with good "E" can (most times) catch him at the top of his climb, while a BF109 or 190 caught fairly low can T&B for a circuit or two while his buddies arrive to save his a$$. Or he can usually just run away.

My suggestion to someone getting online for the first time (notice the absence of the word "noob" ) would be to fly the bf109 or the Yak3(still hard to beat for maneuverability and stability).

A well modelled Me-262 should be a noob plane. It was the best energy fighter in ww2, since you have always more energy than your opponents as long as you keep the speed above 350kmh.
LW officers cosidered it the best plane for novice fighter pilots, it required the least number of combat training hours.

Required?
In my opinion that's a little inaccurate.
It was more by necessity that novice pilots filled 262 cockpits in '45.
I do agree that the 262 is a noob plane in this game, although I still like seeing opponents fly it.

Well, although I've been around this game long enough now, I still consider myself a bit of a noob (when it comes to actual flying anyway, seeing as how I can't manage CEM, trim, or multis very well or at all) and I find I'm awlays flying the I-153 since it's so easy to fly and be deadly with on low level T 'n B servers (as long as no negative Gs and cockpit is off). I have a much easier time getting points with it then anything else if I can just keep turning inside everyone and they either don't know how easy it is to counteract the I-153 or can't be bother with me. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I'm starting to FINALLY, after all this time, branch out to other planes and to try my hand a full-real.

Noob planes?! o_O

Well compared ..think on that...When the F22 will become active duty.. all American Pilots will be stated as Noobs because they will fly such combat superior planes? No its called "Fight on your terms... not on theirs!".

BTW ..Hey look at that screenie one guy is flying the P40E /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif ..very brave pilot!!!

"There are a hell of a lot more 190's being flown then before... That's all."

I guess that total is up from the "0" that were online before.

This point isn't directed at anyone specific.

The whole "noob" thing is total BS. Fly what you like and enjoy, instead of being a point ***** who judges his self-worth by how he rates in a video game. Find a plane that you like and stick with it instead of just trying to take the plane that gives you the greatest advantage (which is not very sporting and is pretty sad IMHO). I'm a pretty decent pilot but I got my a$$ handed to me enough times in my 190 before 1.1b, but at least I enjoyed it instead of flying the best performing plane and tracking my score. I have alot of respect for those who stick with the P-40, P-47, etc. I would rather fly with one of those guys any day before I would fly with the guy who jumps from the 109G-2 in '42 to the La-5FN in '43.

With all this b1tching and moaning the 190 will probably get neutered and become a brick with wings again, but I'll still be at the controls.

the new fw 190 is great on offense thus some may think its a noob plane now but let anyone get on the six of a fw190 and the fw is no longer a noob plane. its a death trap with someone on your six unless your an ace.

I have notice that a ''NOOB'' aircraft is always the one that has shot someone down, that think he/she is combat flight simulation ace of aces, and or a poor excuse for getting shot down.
Rule is we all get shot down by newbie or ''NOOB''..lol

XyZspineZyX

I still would not call 190 as a N00b-plane, since it is surely not a turn fighter.. N00b-planes are turnfighters, where you can pull your stick as hard you can without loosing any E.. such as Yaks /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif or 109 G2 at the moment.. or P-39 /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

FW-190 is a Semi-N00b-plane.. you gotta know what you are doing.
