I use the same stick, nothing special to do, just asign the keys to it and go.

I have been using this stick for three years now. Never one breakdown. I have five of these sticks. I have always installed it with all defaults and forgot it. One thing I like to do is install it, then uninstall it. After one install and uninstall I can just plug it into any USB port and it installs automatically since the driver is now in windows. This is nice because you don't have to use the disc and you do not have the sidewinder software on your rig. One less program taking up disk space and ram. Congratulations, you have lucked into the best stick that can be had. S!

The software it loads allows you to fine tune the sticks deadzone and range of movement. I tihnk you are losing out if you don't use it. It also takes 4 megs of ram when running

Using the profiling software that comes with the stick, assign 3 base buttons to mode keys (i.e. Alt, Ctrl, Shift), then assign the remaining 5 buttons to what ever keystroke you wish (preferably the ones that are not often used in the game). Fire up AEP and go to the ingame 'Contol' menu. Change some of the default keystrokes.
For example: you assign button 1 to 'Enter' for weapon 1. Assign weapon 2 to Shift + Enter (shift + button 1): assign weapon 3 to Alt + Enter: and Weapon 4 to Ctrl + Enter.
You basically have assigned 4 functions to the number 1 button of your joystick.
I used to have that kind of stick, and I have assigned 20+ functions using the Sidewinder software.

Each pilot has his or her preferences and they will vary depending on what your favourite ride is. For a more extensive explanations see This Section (http://www.airwarfare.com/tech/sticks.htm#006%20Setting%20up%20axis%20sensitivity ) of an excellent article on joysticks and FB. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
