Would it be the Square Island map? If not which one? Thanks.

Welcome to Club Med sledgehammer http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You could indeed use the Square Island map to act as North Africa, as it has sand textures. But there are also snowcapped mountains, which spoils the illusion. Maybe if you set your waypoints cleverly the mountains will remain out of sight.

You can also use some of the island maps Online7(?) and Online5(?) (I'm at work so I am not sure about the map names) to act as Crete or the Aegean.

It would be great if we had a (fictional) desert map to play with. As it is now, you'll have to use your imagination a bit.

I am currently making a random mission campaign for an Italian fighter pilot over the Med. I am actually using the Kumban/Crimea maps. The distances are about right. Except the sea is south instead of north. The online map, I forget what number it is which depicts the gulf of finland is good too. The crimea is about the same size as sicily!

This from Mr.Big-"O" himself may be your answer if you can wait for awhile. Copied from a thread in ORR:

Are you all agree for a online map, that will be standard our online size (or just a bit greater and will have the desert, sea and one island.

Nothing historical. Nothing big. Using existing textures and models.

For this we may spend couple of weeks.

Problem is I can't wait http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm experimenting a bit with the Island maps. Crimea and Finland maps are also an option, but the placenames spoil the illusion for me. Maybe if I try harder... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

That's great news!

(Now all we need is a snowy map with fjords and pine-trees in it)

I really wish we could get some new maps, in particular Sicily and Northern Africa. I have a hard time pretending the Crimea is Tunisia.

I agree, but the map it sounds like we will get will be small like that pacific map. Way too small. Bases should be at least 100km apart for realism. Thats why crimea, finland kuban maps are better. I don't like the names either, but the distances to targets is whats important.
