If I set 25% fuel w/ droptanks. Does my plane use fuel from them first and start me at 25% when I drop them and get into combat?

OHHH more questions for anyone

1) Do the hardpoints effect performance?

2) Do they look extra cool or what?

yea, hardpoint DO look cool, but decrease performance. increase in weight and profile of plane so more drag is less speed and more weigh is less manouverability. i think the only plane the hardpoint doesnt affect is the bf110, cause the cannons just replace the MG...unless u get the dual mg151 'tray'.

basically, if u B&Z then get the hardpoints, but if u turn&burn, dont get em...

I have a good question.

How do you know when your tanks are exhuasted?
It would be kind of nice to know when they are empty so you can drop them for better aerodynamics.

With the smallish size of most maps used online, I simply suggest using your drop tanks to climb to altitude and heading into the kill-zone. Maybe even for loitering once you get there and can choose when to start your attack. By that time, you won't need nor want them.

There isn't a drop tank fuel guage as far as I know, so you're left to your own math and judgement as to the proper time to drop them on the innocent farm down below. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/59.gif

Oh, i've got a question too. Something i've been wondering about for years. The gun shells. Surely there must have been massive destruction, people getting holes in their roofs and such, even people getting killed by all the shells raining from a dogfight? Anyone know of stories of that?

So I take it once you have used all the fuel in the droptank your engine won't belch, fart and quit telling you its time to switch tanks.
It just starts feeding off the main tank!

People and property were injured and occasionally killed by spent ordnance and falling cases, but not as many as you'd expect. Remember that most of the flight path would avoid major population centres and the AAA that goes with them, so falling cases from fighter intercepts would mostly fall on farmland. Only over the target area would they be likely to fall on people.
