Please Oleg & Co

Im not sure how many planes in BoB will feature nosewheel steering, but please consider fixing so that the axis(pivot) of yaw movement (on ground) is located at the point of wich the nose landing gear is installed. It is really annoying when planes in IL2FB with a nose wheel can just "plow" away and keep going almost straight even with max steering.

Imagine what would happen if you rode a bicycle downhill quite fast and suddenly get a crazy idea and twist the steering max left or right..

I dont think you would be going straight now would you? rather straight to the hospital.

Also a parking brake would be appricieated aswell as differential braking system. It might seem like a small issue since its all "ground" thingies, but it would really add to realism.

Thank you.

I believe nosewheel steering works with the P-38. I have watched from F2 and seen it turn as I turn with rudder pedals.

Yes the nose wheel turns on the P38, but its just for show, it doesn't really turn the plane like it should. True steerable nose gear and differential braking would be a very nice touch to this sim. Quite minor in reality, but would be nice.

I had trouble with turning the P-38 untill I figured out that I had the "Lock Tail Wheel" keyed. LOL http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif After I unlocked it, the P-38 turned easily. The YP-80 was different, it just plows ahead.

Yes, well you see the problem isnt that the weel doesnt TURN as an animation of the 3D model.

The problem is that it doesnt really..
uhhh...

just look from the outside view man.. see what happens when you stand still and turn max nose left or right in a plane that has a nose wheel. does the wheel turn? yes it does.. but what if you add some power.. will the plane go in the EXACT direction of the nosewheel?? no it doesnt.

why not?

its because the 3d models all have predefined allignment of the are XYZ axis. It is normally alligned in the center of gravity for the 3dmodel.

But what I mean is that in the gamecode there should be a "aircraft on ground" function, if [value] is [true] it would have this axis alligned to the nosewheel for the YAW axis. that means.. when the plane turns its nosewheel, the plane moves in the exact direction of the wheel, unless it is more than 90 degress off center of fuselage centerline. then the plane cant go anywhere..(normally aircraft cannot turn nosewheel more than 60-70 degrees anyway.)

This would not only add to easier taxing, it would also mean that aircraft would behave more realistic, and it would certainly look better.

Anyway, its probably a lot of work for a too small issue since not many planes have nosewheel steering, but imo there are not many flightsims out there that have really good steering on ground.
(except for real flightsimulators)

FlightSimulator 2004 is another shining example of planes that "plow" away..
nosewheel turns but direction of travel is not the same of the wheels. Only time these things can happen in real life is if it is slippery (water / ice) on the tarmac.

Im still more keen on Oleg fixing the sim right than adding more planes. I mean take the example of the dust blast on the ground when taxiing.. does it look good?
Yes id does, its a really cool feature.
(But it should be tweaked a little tho so it doesnt blow on asphalt tarmac just as much.. or att all.)
Theese are functions id like to see in an upgrade or a patch, rather than a whole new bunch of planes.

Guess noone else feels like me.
