Mozilla does in fact rule--I'm using it right now. Don't have to put up with adware and all that crap.

michapma,

If I understand your post correctly, those are examples of browser output. The results you show seem like nothing more than improperly coded HTML. While I am primarily a software developer, a lot of the programs we write have web based components for some parts of them. I am no fan of Microsoft, but most of our clients use IE and so we have to use it. From experience, I can tell you that we have a lot more problems getting complex pages to work with other browsers(especially NutScrape) than with IE.

Blubble, I work in a software house to, doing testing, compatibility etc we have the same quandries. Clients want there internet apps to work with IE and blow anything else. I personally prefer Opera but for instance these very forums for along time would not work in Opera 7 so I used IE instead. You know whats worse than Nutscrape....getting something to work on Nutscrap on a Macintosh lol.

well im a firefox user and the site i can't read is a rarity indeed... and IE is there for those blue mooned nights.

i just hate all the ad ware and spy ware i end up with... if i barely use IE i don't get it and i still get functionality. plus with firefox you get tab browsing. and pop-up blocking. and small memory footprint. high speed. better security. user made plugins. skinable. free. hmm, yup, got quite a lot going for it except for the fact it doesnt come with windows so most people dont know what it is, where to get it, or that all the crap they get with IE isnt just a fact of life, it can be stopped.

I love tabs, have them set to my middle mouse button.

I can't stand it when I have to use IE and have to open new windows if I want to keep the original one open. It makes me M http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/93.gif D .

I also use mozilla for my mail, it's junk mail filters work really well.

I'm sure all these features will of been ripped off by the time IE7 comes out.

All you have to do is open another IE window.. without closing the one you are in. I sometimes have 3 or 4 open at once.

Agreed 100%, Firefox improved on what already was a great browser: firebird.

You should give Firefox a try Bearcat, once you've used it for a couple days you won't want to go back to M$ IE.

You can download it here: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

michapma,
I agree Mozilla Firebird/Firefox is the best that's what I use 99% of the time including now http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Plus it's a good thing otherwise MS will have an easier time pushing non-standard web extensions via their browser.

Why Use IE ?

Well I only use it for Windows/Office Update, Hotmail, and the rare occasion that something doesnt work right. Otherwise, 99.9% of the time I am using Mozilla 1.6 which is class. Have an iMac G3 upstairs with Nutscrape on it... seems to work reasonably, but I got rid of Nutscrape on my PC's cos it was full of AOL crap. Haven't "Rebuilt" the Mac yet http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/784.gif . When I do, it will get some flavour of Mozilla on it I think http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Firefox is pretty good, certainly a lot better than IE, but my browser for the last 3 years has been Opera - not entirely free (errr...) it has some nifty features + is fast + slik. Though is surprisingly consistent in its bugginess considering they release an update practivally every fortnight.

Its not that simple, BC.

Tabbed browsing is bliss, because you don't have to clutter you work area with unnecesary opened windows.

Here's an example of the borwser i use:Avant Browser (http://server6.uploadit.org/files/MagnusV-ABexample.jpg)

Note that i have 5 programs opened:

Avant Browser
Paint Shop pro
Windows Media Player
All Seeing Eye
WinDVD

And i also have 7 website windows (I can open as many as i wish), all opened at the same time (this picture was just an example, i neer use so many windows), but you will see that they are all opened inside the browser's window, wich means, no extra workspace beeing used by the browser, so its allways clean and tidy.

This was an image from the Avant Browser.
Its little more than a shell for IE, but it offer tens of very usefull options.
For starters, i can rearrange the toolbars in any way shape or form i wish.
I can add or take anything i want from the workspace.
Tabbed browsing for IE = Bliss.
Integrated search engines, i can use any search engine i wish, just by choosing one from the options, and with no need for any extra toolbars.
Integrated PopUp blocker.
Its an ongoing program, it gets better with each release.

There are many other features, i just can't name them all.

As you can see, tabbed browsing IS usefull.
Try opening the same number of windows and programs in your PC and browser, and you'l be sorry you did, as eerything will be severely cluttered, and you'l eventualy loose track of things. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

*edit*
BTW, i forgot to say this.
Using AB will speed IE like nobodies buisness.
Its a shell, but it uses a lot of proprietary coding to improve the IE core running under it.
Its as fast as any other browser trown against it, beeing it Opera, Mozilla, whatever.
It does suffer from the security issues of IE, but after a few 3rdP apps are installed, you can use IE, and still retain all the security other browsers offer.

Cheers.

Why use IE, there is no erason to use firefox much better browser, if your designing a web page writing java script never ever use IE to test it, you will end up with terrible code that wotn work on anything else, thanks to the stupid auto correct which encourages sloppyness, Many good web page designers use old versions of mozilla or netscape to test their pages http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Disagreed - good web page designers test their work on EVERYTHING. I run a web design company and we usually test our sites on every browser out there. On Windows, we check it out in IE, NS, Opera, and Mozilla. For Mac, we test it in IE, NS, and Safari, for both OS 9 and OS X.

I say usually, because there are some things that a client wants that only work in certain browsers. <IFRAMES> for instance, and of course javascript, need some special lovin' to get working consistently.

Yough man BEAR you gotta try this. You can open normal New Windows but within each window, if you want, you can get Tabs or sub~windows that you don't see when in another window.

And I don't get that dumb ubi ActiveX pop~up anymore.
