Ok at first I was really sceptical about the new direction for the classic Rainbow reticule... And now that I have played the new Demo... I can truly say that it is the single worst thing done to a classic franchise I have ever run across... It feels more accurate when your running than when you've stopped... It has made it feel a lot less realistic than previously... I mean what were they not happy selling their games to those loyal R6 fans they've decided to try and collect on the whole run and gun concept... They should strip the Clancy title from this one... Don't think that I don't love the demo it rocks but at it's heart it doesn't feel like R6... I hate to say it but it reminds me more of a well polished Soldier of Fortune... I pray they let you choose the old reticule in the options menu... If they could throw in the old one hit deaths to that would be nice... I would imagine that these prayer's will fall on the same deaf ears that all the rest of my prayer's seam to reach...

I had heard about the new reticule and im really sceptical too. But its not 1 hit kills anymore. DAMN IT! It still could work if it is like 2 or 3 hit kills. Is it?

No you get Four bars of health and I have sustained more than three shots before I lost one bar... They had to do this since you play as only one character Ding Chavez...

what difficulty are you playing on?

let me tell you if you up the diff you will die easier...lol

aslo, i actually Like the new reticle...i was very skeptical at first...but its much harder to hit a target while running, unless you have great aim...and this game compensates for that now...before with the old reticle or with GR...the bullets just fly anywhere when you are running...now if you have the skill you can run and shoot

i still prefer to play the game slow...so i do...which gives me a better reticle...and i have gotten plenty of 1 shot kills so far

always aim for the head

I've been playing on elite... mabey they are only hitting my ankles or arms... And don't you find it less realistic that your more likely to hit dead center of your crosshairs when jogging down a hallway than when standing still? I understand the concept of the new sight i guess i just prefer the "classic" style...

Keyboard/Mouse is more accurate so Ubi had to tweak the controls to fit a console controller

"IGN: Explain how important the new targeting reticle is in Rainbow Six 3 and how it works.

Mike McCoy: In the PC version, when you move, your reticle expands to show that your bullets are going to go somewhere inside this reticle, but you don't know where. On top of that there's an auto targeting system that you can activate which means that the center of your expanded reticle will snap to the targets.

What we've done is we've integrated both of those things into one reticle system so that now you have a point and a circle (around it). As you move, the circle shrinks, making you put the point on the target. As you go stationary, the circle grows which means you put the target anywhere in that bigger circle and you hit them.

If you're familiar with Halo, they did a very good job with their reticle. I think they were one of the first shooters to really take a step forward and make a reticle that plays towards the controller rather than force a PC reticle.

What we've done is take that to the next level and now you get rewarded for being stationary and taking careful aim versus moving fast. Now if you're a good aimer you can run through and play the game very Quake-like and put the dot on his forehead, pull the trigger and it's easy.

But if you stop and take your time, the circle is quite big and you put that anywhere over his body, pull the trigger and he goes down."

oh i still like classic better...but i think this works a bit better for a console

they need to punish you for running somehow...and personally i think the old reticle punished you too severly...some people in real life and move and shoot with no problem...they tried that in the game

however on the same note...i like a more precise aiming when standing still like the old one or gr's...instead of Hitting anything thats in the circle

i shoulda said i dont mind the new reticle...lol

I mean if they had made the reticule sway while you walked or something that would be different but it holds still as ice... even when your running up stairs and around corners... I've never really liked auto aim and thats what this new setup feels like to me... I guess I should just be thankful they havent got some kind of super radar like the old heartbeat sensors... oh I hope they stick to the new sensors... it's true too that the old reticule punished you a little too severly but it does pay to pause before you pop off a three round burst into some terrorists head... AH and another complaint... NO damn rate of fire change... what the... How could this be?... I have read someone in another forum claiming that this will likely be in the final version... But then what button will it be maped to?... there are none left... OH well they know i'll still be buying and loving their product regardless...

From what I hear....and yes I don't like it...is the right trigger is set so if you pull it a little it will do one shot...pull little more for burst....pull all the way for auto... that is what I hear but I have yet to try it out.

yes you can limit the number of rounds you let off with the amount of trigger pulled... but its just not the same feel... try Ghost Recon and there is a serious difference between letting off three round in auto and three round burst... they have ALWAYS had it in old rainbow games and they just cut it in this one... but it's not as though I haven't been playing the demo all day...so I really shouldn't complain...

Thats not true. If you aim at someones head with the sniper, and put the circle right in the middle of his head, it will miss. However, if you run at them with a little dot, you will hit them. Its Encouraging CS tactics, and its clear who Ubi made this game/demo for.
