View Full Version : Bouncing Fw-190?

I was flying my Dora against 4 B-17s and I was able to kill 2 and had the last 2 badly shot up. It was then that the tailgunner put a bullet in my head on what would have been my final run at #2. My screen went black and I switched to external view to watch as my plane headed straight for the ground. With the engine RPM's way too high I thought she would blow up in mid air, but no. It hit the ground doing at least 800 Km/h and BOUNCED! Back up about 300m and did this 3 more times before finally coming to a stop in a forest. I knew the 190s were a tough plane but that's a little over modeled!

Invulnerability turned "on" does not prevent the aircraft from exploding if crashing into the ground.

The answer probably is that once the pilot is dead or out of the aircraft, a simplified flight and damge model is in effect. That's just a guess, but hitting the earth while 'invulnerable' should still destroy the aircraft. Try it out http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Neg, the damage model doesn't change when you are dead. If "easy landings" are on, you bounce. That's it.

Ah, so it must be 'easy landings', then

Everything is set to realistic. "No icons" and "no external views" are the only things that are off. I will try to post the screenshot.

My plane did eventually explode, on the third bounce.

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif You're better than me doing that stuff...most of the time i end up as a big hole in the ground http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif

But i've seen this happen online a couple of times too...the planes just hit the ground and bounced back up again...this was ONLINE..i do not know however if this happens OFFLINE too...

and as far as i know it happened ONCE to myself..i did not quite know what happened and did it off as a small glitch in IL2..
My settings were FULL REAL...

See those two black smoke trails? Those belong to the two engines of a former Bf-110, as they are making their run for low Earth orbit. At the time this screenshot was taking, they were still going up, at high velocity.

The black speck in the backround is my plane, flying at 5000m.

Sometimes wierd things just happen in this game.

ROTFL: "making their run for low Earth orbit" http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif !!!
I haven't noticed so spectacular things, but once I managed to do "bouncy-bouncy", when my badly damaged I-16 was ditching near bridge and when it hit the sand on the shoreline it suddenly did the "rubber yoyo jump" over the bridge. That was funny...

You must have "Flutter Effect" turned on under difficulty or your plane will bounce every time it crashes.

You must also have "Vulnerability" and "Realistic Landings" enabled.
