View Full Version : Utility to simplify FMB

I understand someone has created a utility that simplifies FMB making it more like QMB. Is the current version compatable with AEP and if so where do you get it?

I don't know if it's updated for AEP yet, but UberDemon is what your looking for.

You are referring to UQMG by UberDemon.

It is not compatible with AEP yet. However it nicely bridges the gap between QMB and FMB. It also lets you use all the maps available in the FMB.

On the other hand, FMB is fully compatible with AEP, and it's not really that difficult to use http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It's not difficult, but it is rather tedious and cumbersome.

UQMG Works with ACE Expansion Pack. However it supports everything up to 1.22, so you get to fly the P-51D, Zero, and Ki84a, plus Nurmandy, Ardennes and Pacific map... however it does not yet support the new planes. I spent all weekend working on this, since I was sick... but the amount of work is
incredible... I say that because UQMG is complex... that is the engine is, but not the interface to the user.

To make this as professional as possible, I need to include a lot of data that other engines don't... The good news is that I have the cloning algorithm to have up to thousands of planes per mission working with the SPB Zveno... meaning you can fly either the I16 or TB3 with I-16s and clone them up to 420 times for each flight... The same is already true of the Mistel, you will be able to have up to 420 per flight... although they are dumb, they are fun to shoot... and yes you can fly them as well... but because UQMG makes the same mission for Co-op and Single Player, if you have multiple Mistels, you will be able to fly in teams.

I have all new planes working in my working version. I still have to update the database and that is a lot of work... I also added the almost 80 new regiments.

Anyway, there is more work plus I have new maps to release... the fact I have been working on this alone for the last three years makes upgrades hard to come by... but when they do, they are good.

Thank you for your patience and an upgrade to UQMG will be coming soon.

Demon, any chance when you create a map using the onwhine Pacific map do you use the FMB Destruction slider to eliminate the palm tree objects? Helps with framerates.

btw...the (relatively) few palm trees near the airfields don't bother framerates too much, and they do look really good, so I use the map with only those palm tree objects remaining.

No, I have not done anything with the sliders yet. It could be possible and I can look into it. Is Pacific Online the only one you think would benefit from this? This may not be done right away because I have a lot of work cut out on this AEP upgrade, but it maybe doable.

Could you do me a favor and send me an e-mail to uberdemon@uberdemon.com with a barebone mission with the slider in the setting you find most FPS friendly?

Hmm... maybe easier than I though... anyway, if you could send me what you mean I think I can work something out.

Thank you.

UD... I think the UQMG is the most important tool to come along specifically for FB in a while..if not ever.

Maybe it's just me being thick but I can't make head nor tail out of UQMG... there are just so many options and combinations that I just don't know how to get it to do what I want.

It would be good if it had a Basic mode so that you could use it a bit more like QMB or switch to Advanced mode to get the full functionality.

So far I have found it useful for populating air bases and placing ground objects for FMB missions because I find that FMB is more user friendly when it comes to setting a/c, waypoints and mission objectives.
