View Full Version : Community Spotlight: Inquisitor_FIN

07-30-2015, 01:26 PM
Itís time again to turn the spotlight on one of our awesome friends from the Trials community. Letís all throw our hands together for the 100% Confirmed Creator of the Fin-Spin*, the one and only Inquisitor_FIN.

Whatís your first Trials game?
My first Trials game was Trials Evolution. I didn't own an Xbox 360, so I didn't get my hands on the game until the PC release in April 2012.

What is your first memory of Trials?
My very first memory from Trials is when I stumbled across the YouTube channel of MikeB who, at the time, was making a lot of videos about Trials. I remember watching his videos showcasing crazy community tracks and that's when the Trials spark was first lit for me. Waiting for the PC release to actually play felt like forever but was more than worth it in the end.

What makes you come back again and again to Trials?
Challenge. Lots and lots of challenge. Once I was all done with the in-game tracks in Evolution, I began going through Track Central to see what kind of stuff people have been making and happened to come across a track called "Pure". It was a hill-climb track with lots of techniques I thought to be impossible at the time but I somehow beat it through sheer effort. The feeling of crossing the finish line on that track for the first time was addicting to me. I've been feeding that addiction ever since.

You stream a lot of Trials (https://www.twitch.tv/inquisitor_fin), why do you do it?
I like to share the pain! Seriously though, when I fire up the stream and get people in the chat to talk, laugh at my failures and congratulate success. It's almost like playing a game with a friend sitting next to me on the couch. The people who come around to Trials streams are generally very nice and talkative and they seem to appreciate what I do even though I'm not one of the most skilled players by far. So yeah, the people keep me streaming Trials!

Whatís your favorite Trials related memory?
As much as I enjoyed finishing "Pure", I must say that this one is all about "Dark City Run" in Trials Evolution. For the longest time, I could not get past the checkpoint with the billboard no matter what I tried. It was getting really frustrating but I kept going back to the track over and over again. During one of those attempts, I somehow ended up fender-grabbing the top of the billboard and made it over. I didn't even know what fender-grabbing was back then! That's certainly something I'll not forget anytime soon.

You were picked in the Ubisoftís Star Player program and you went all the way to E3, how did that go?
Words cannot even describe the experience but I'll darn well try! It was the most amazing experience I've had so far. I've wanted to visit E3 ever since I was a little kid so this actually was a dream come true for me. I got to play and see so many games I hadn't even heard about yet, the most exciting of them being For Honor. I spent hours playing that. I also met some high profile Twitch streamers, such as MANvsGAME, and Mister T!

What made it all the better was that I got to meet up with some Trials people too, namely TheBlazeJP (http://www.twitch.tv/theblazejp), Dumptruck (https://twitter.com/llDumptruckll), TeriXeri (https://www.youtube.com/user/Xiteri), Johkr (https://twitter.com/UbiJustin) and ANBA (https://twitter.com/AIlvessuo)! It was a week of no sleep, lots of games, food and drinks and I loved every second of it. Well, maybe not when me and Blaze got stuck in an elevator for almost two hours. But even that was still kinda funny!

Whoís your biggest rival?
I'd say the tracks are my biggest rivals. When I find a track that kinda feels like I should be able to beat it, it's me competing against the track from there on. If I was to name a person from the community, it'd have to be cartmanfat (or hankey_poo on Twitch). I've been playing with him for ages now and we're around the same in terms of skills. He also frequently joins the streams to have a bit of fun.

Whatís the best part about Trials community?
I kinda touched on this earlier but from my perspective as a streamer, the best part about the Trials community is how nice and helpful people generally are. Sure, people are passionate and tempers might sometimes flare up but that's just a drop in the ocean in the long run. It's a pretty tightly knit group that follows Trials streams on Twitch and I feel like I've gotten to know many of them very well during my time on the site. It's almost like a gathering of friends online when I stream or join someone else's audience.

How do your friends react when you talk about Trials or that youíre going to Los Angeles to represent that same community?
A few of them play Trials themselves or are at least interested in it so they don't start rolling their eyes when I go on my rants. The ones who aren't interested aren't so lucky. Honestly though, they're as much interested in challenging gameplay as I am so they keep asking me if I've done something stupidly hard lately with the game. When they heard about the trip to LA, they were pretty happy for me since I haven't really been around inside or outside Finland. One of them did ask me if he'd fit in my suitcase though.

What would you like to say to all the readers?
No matter what your passion is, be it Trials or something completely different, stick with it and try and have an open mind and as much fun as you can while doing it. Stay connected to other people with a similar passion. You never know what'll happen. I've made many friends within this community and been offered many amazing opportunities because of Trials that I never dared to even imagine! Last but not least, ride fast and ride hard! Even if you faceplant a few thousand times along the way.

I used to hate that billboard on DCR as well... now it's easy in comparison!

Congrats on the feature, and always good to put faces to names.

Someone like me doesn't need to open a pm from RL on the forums to know what's inside of it already. Words associated with these messages typically rhyme with distraction or morning :'(

....Just kidding! Ha.....ha...ha.ha....yeah.

Though I've never spoken to Fin he's around enough that I've known of him for quite some time. Seems like a really cool guy and a great representative of our community.

Great pick RL and congrats again to fin.

I realize I'm very late to the party here but I'd like to say that I'm really honored for being picked for a spotlight! Also, I'm equally honored for all the people that keep turning up for the livestreams. Thank you all for the kind words :)
