I have just gotten a Geforce2 400MX 64 meg card for my pc to replace my 32 meg. I know, it's not top of the line, but I had decent success with the 32 meg card. Now the 64 meg card is working ok, but if someone has the same setup as me, please let me know how you have your IL2 setup configured. I have an 800MHZ processor and 256 meg of ram. On the Black Death track I get an average of 14 fps when I run the whole thing. I mainly fly QMB and it works fine, but I expected it to be somewhat better than the 32 meg was and am a little disappointed. My driver is 45.23. I would post this in the technical forum but I don't see it anywhere at the moment. Thank.

This card is a disappointment for FB. I had it once. Get rid of it try something else. Maybe a GFTI 4200 128 meg. Also, check independent reviews (not the maker`s sites) on the cards before buying. These are tough lessons I had to learn.

Went through 3 graphic cards before I went for the GF4200 it was within my budget but more importantly was recommended by everyone (even today), because its a good overclocker and quite reliable. I`m very pleased with it.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, I don't have an AGP slot, just PCI.

I see that you are on a tight budget.
In a low end sengment there's no better card than ATI Radeon 9000 Pro 128MB. If you are lucky you can buy one on Ebay for less than $60.

Yeah, that's the one I went for as well. It worked wonders for me and should be dirt cheap by now. So: there's a lot of bang for your bucks!

Any MX440 card is going to suck.

There's just no way to sugar coat it.

I went from a MX440 to a ti-4200 and doubled my FPS while simultaneously increasing my resolution.

It really is that bad.

Sorry bud.

-= 8 1 5 =- FB Dedi Server is coming soon. (with AEP Dedicated Server)
100Mb IDC line, P4 2.8G server.
Full real but limited icon, minimap path and spdbar.
You can expect something, since I run the server myself. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I may be an exception, but my GF4 MX 420 64meg renders FB at 35 to 45fps on excellent settings using 1024x768x32 resolution. Has anyone heard of that card giving results like this. Just curious. S!

OK - running GeForce 420MX with FB on a 900MHz/512MB RAM box for some time now. It`s not paradise but makes for more than sufficient game play. If I were you the one thing I would do right away is get an extra 256MB stick of RAM - should cost you 35$. This would be considered necessary no matter what video card you are running
Some tips for tweaking:
1. Clean up drive for junk. Defragment.
2. Latest Nvidia driver of course - 45.23, 53.03 and 56.55 all work fine in my box. Run through the Desktop properties/Advanced/GeForce settings and set them to performance. Leave VSync on. Stay away from anti-aliasing/Aniso filtering.
3. Study services guides for 2000 or XP at http://www.blackviper.com/ and follow the gaming settings.
4. Run a spyware cleaner (AdAware or SpyBot)
5. Run a reg cleaner (with caution!!!)
6. When playing, turn off other programs except for firewall/antivirus.
7. If you are really into tweaking, get yourself an alternative shell (if this means nothing to you, you should probably not bother http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif )

All this will never do you as good as buying a new card, but if that is not an option, tweaking is the alternative.

<hr>
If you wait until the last minute to do something, it will only take a minute to do it!
