Apparently the Corsair is the worst turning fighter in the entire inventory of American WWII aircraft that saw service. So don't expect it to turn very well...probably in the same range as the FW190 is right now...but it also has some awesome strengths. Excellent climb rate, excellent top speed, excellent dive ability, and very good roll rate.

So it'll be a boom and zoom dream come true. Even in FB you can use combat flaps to help make a turn and this even works with a FW190 but you'll still find other well piloted aircraft turning well inside of you...

American aircraft--with the exception of a *very* skillfuly flown P-61, a well flown P-40, or dive-brake equipped P-38--are not turn fighters.

You dive, you slash, you fire, you climb away. You turn around. You do it again.

IceFire is right. The F4U had some great strengths annd a few weaknesses. The bad turn rate was not considered one of them though, because the plane was never used as a TnB fighter.
I believe it is correct that the Corsair should handle somewhat like the FW 190 exept being much heavier and perhaps less prone to stall at high speeds, all though the low speed handling is most likely going to be awful! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/59.gif
I can't wait to hear the TnB jockeys go "I don't want to whine, but the Corsair is sooooooo bad. Change it now!" http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

>"Flatspin", what is that supposed to mean? This aircraft is entirely spin-proof!<

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/353.gif In addition to being slightly OT, shouldn't this be in the PF forum?

Besides, this is 6-9 months away at best.

I'm just saying...
