I feel like Dennis Leary - "Mochacino, capacino, frapacino, Al Pacino, what the feck!?! 'www dot what the feck dot com!"

Perusing the ORR today I saw 2 threads complaining that the P-51 and Spitfire are both undermodeled.

The P-51. The same plane that just had a 7 or 8 page thread dedicated to it being over modeled. http://www.blitzpigs.com/forum/images/smiles/huh.gif

As if that isn't enough, this is going on parallel to a circle jerk about how all the planes are overmodeled and that 33% sensitivity is somehow more accurate. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif

I've seen a lot of people put forth good, well founded claims about all of the planes being undermodeled. Limitations in the engine and so forth.

At the same time, I've seen what appears to be a strong movement that all planes are overmodeled (though with less, if any, logic and evidence to support it).

This make sense to any of you? One goup says they are all too sluggish. Another says they are all too nimble. Another group says that 1 plane is extremely overmodeled, while another b|tches that it's getting screwed.

It's no wonder the FMs change so radically from one patch to the next. Oleg doesn't know which bloody wheel to grease. And that is all that's going on.

This is this community - http://www.blitzpigs.com/forum/images/smiles/YesNo.gif

I think part of the problem is that Oleg and his marketing team shot himself in the foot a bit with IL2. The hype of it's accuracy was way too overblown and way too accepted. Now when he improves things, people think it's "arcady" and they wig out.

Yes, I've been watching this entire thing travel in this direction from the very start. Oleg has to learn an old saying that we have here in the West:

You can please some of the people all of the time, and you can please all of the people some of the time, but you CANNOT please ALL of the people ALL of the time.

Called human nature. If you gave everyone in this community a gold bar, 1/3 would thank you.

1/3 would complain that the value of gold bullion has fallen since the stocks closed yesterday and why in hell couldn't you have handed them out faster.

1/3 will complain of the wieght of the bar and if held just so the glare hurts their eyes.

Just try and hang with the 1st 1/3.

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

That's exactly right. Why take any of these discussions serious, most involved have nothing better to do? Its an excuse for forum significance; members over the net trying to prove their self-worth. In the end...big deal http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

Well, it is a big deal when it goes astray.

We have come a long way since IL2. Planes are more capable of reaching their actual speeds, the late 109s are not so hampered by needlessly smeared glass (though they missed a few, and even on the cleaned ones it's still, *arbitrarily*, there), planes retain E a bit better, etc. Heck, even some of the soviet planes are actually mortal now. That is a very significant improvement.

At the same time though, the 109s have been over hampered in high speed control, the more realistic E retention of FB 1.0 was too much for those who I described above as being steeped in IL2 hype, to deal with and has been degraded, etc.

This is a power that can obviously be used for good, or evil. And it has been both.

Yes, I know it's human nature. But that's like saying outside is outside. It doesn't do anything for us here. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

I haven't seen it mentioned, so I wanted to call attention to the grand scale disparity, which is actually humorous in a way.

If people don't complain, it's often because they don't care.

Says something about how much people value the game.

That's quite a valid point. But sometimes what people care about most is being right, not about the game.

Excellent DDT, right on the money.

Another of my favorites is the group that discounts what the pilots who actually flew the aircraft have to say, because sometimes it doesn't match what is in their books...

I agree with whatever anyone says because I'm shallow. very very shallow.

But I think the sim has gotten better overall with the two steps forward, one step back methodology

Don't forget though El, pilots can, and often do, have an agenda. There's been more than a few reports of captured aircraft that were written with obvious bile. But, just as some would want to discredit that, others wish to make it law, writ from the Lord on high. And both for the same reason.

Then of course there is their potential lack of experience with a given airframe, or, carefully constricted testing (which was all too common), skewing the works.

It does seem that often what 1 pilot reports doesn't match what was corroborated half a dozen other times, so, what to go with then?

BTW, Oleg undermodels every plane when I'm flying it, and overmodels it when it's another guy's choice.
