I think "Aklienware" type computers will be available for the homebuilder, IE: capacity for dual video cards. Mind you the good ones will cast over $300.00 stompers a piece, but it makes for a simple upgrade when you get the $$.

Anyone keeping up with this?I have seen the new Antec power supply (480 W) out already.

Sounds interesting but do the programs have to be specifically written to utilize both video cards?

Theres still only 1 AGP slot in those. The other video cards are PCI. A freind of mine has a setup with 1 Radeon 9800XT and 2 Geforce 2's in 2 PCI slots. Thats 4 monitors but only the Radeon 9800XT is any good for games and even then not many games use dual monitors. The Geforce 2's allow more desktop space and to view applications while playing games.

With PCI express round the corner I wouldn't be surpised if there were allot of games on the horizon that would support more than 2 monitors.

You will need a motherboard with 2 pcie x16 slots. A lot of the motherboards coming out have multiple pcie slots but they all only have one x16 (16 "lane") slot which is what the new nvidia cards capable of sli (hooking 2 together) require. Currently the only m/b with 2 pcie x16 slots are server boards which take xeon processors. I would wait another month or 2 and by then multiple pcie x16 motherboards will be available. I am definately going this route (I had sli with the old voodoo cards and it was awesome! for it's time).

The new Alienware PCs that have the SLI configuration have Dual 6800 Ultras in PCI Express slots. Each renders only half the screen resulting in something insane like an 87% improvement over single video card systems. All that for only $5000 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

You used to be able to do that with voodoo 2's for Unreal Tournament. They rocked and it look cool in the back of the case!http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

A good MBs with dual capability should run more than $250.00. I dont plan on getting the newest vid cards though, at over $400.00 a pop, but with the MB, you can always upgrade to 1 real good vid card, then another. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

The Antec power supply is in at just over $100.00.

Im not insane enough to think that I would spend 5,000 on a new 'puter. Im hoping a homebuilt will run around $1600, with a top end P4 3.2 or something.Thats 4 months AFTER they release the new 64 bit chips, and the prices go down on the pile of "outdated" "crappola" they have piloed up in the warehouses, unless there is a rush on all the oldie but still real goodi??. (may 05? auuugh....)

Depends on how outragous the 64 bit stuff is priced..... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

WW2 aviation is friggin' the BEST! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

There were also Corsairs on Guadalcanal, and they fought along with the Wildcats.P-40s also. Later up the slot VMF-214 fought along side with Hellcats and P-40s against the main japanese base - (Rabaoul)- I was making missions for this in CFS2, but I simply dont have de 'Puter power'!!The slot flys pretty good though, you can fly it real time in like 30 minutes, to the jap base.

Get yourself a pair that supports dual-link DVI and an Apple 30" LCD :-) It'll cost a pretty penny to set up, and it WILL get you robbed at a LAN party, but it should be worth it.
