I have downloaded and installed a large number of skins in the B-239 folder, but I can only use some of them via advanced settings- the others simply don't show up as selectable. Is there a maximum number of skins that can be installed per aircraft, and if not, is there perhaps a reason why not all skins can be selected?

Even skins that aren't supposed to work for an aircraft will try to load for another. Perhaps some of them are not in the correct format: .bmp
I have upwards of 20 skins for some of my favorite planes, and haven't had a problem seeing any of them.

there is no maximum number of skins
i have in some plane folder more then 40 skins
and they all show up , i think like cajun said that the format is wrong

downloading skins is one of my hobby's when bored.
And now i have on my HD and CD's a total of 3.5Gig of skins

I recently discovered that the file name can't be too long. I dunno the limit of characters but, I've downloaded a skin wich had a very long name. It didn't show up in the proper menu so, I shortend the .BMP file name and it worked okay.

2.2GB total on mine, one aircraft with 469 skins in its folder, all work fine.

File names with non Alpha-numeric characters may be a problem. If the missing skin files have names with spaces, underscores, hyphens etc, try changing the file name.

IIRC, they also need to be in 8-bit (256 colour) .bmp format.
