The 'save game' you refer to is actually the 'save track' after a mission has been quit..........
the track files which are generated........also the quick ntrk. ones, which you replay from the track menu, are stored in the 'Records' folder of the program files

NO! NO! NO!
He refers to something else.
After each mission(offline) your stats are saverd in a INI file, wich is located in your FB folder like this: Il2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles\users\"your callsign"\Campaigns.INI.
There are also some others files, but to back-up your campaigns, just make a copy of the "users" folder.
If you reinstall the game, then you have to use the same callsign, as before.
The tracks files are simply rome files, that record everything during a mission(like a movie), and can be created using "Save track option" after every mission.
If you do not use FB, and you use the original Il2, then everyting is the same, but instead of "Il2Sturmovik Forgotten Battles",there will be just"Il2Sturmovik".

Not quite enough. You'll have to backup the Missions/Campaign/... folder too.
