The basic difference is that on DirectX, I can´t play in Perfect mode.

In most cases, direct x is better performance and WAY WAY WAY less bugs on my system

except with IL2 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Wish oleg would use Direct x instead of open GL

Depending on the driver, I've used both. On my system, DX looks better than OGL. However, in the case of the driver I'm using now, OGL runs much faster than DX.

I get stuttering with DX.

If I look at the results of Min,Max,Average in the logfile for Fraps, OGL shows slightly better on all three, especially max. But when I play the game and fly over a place like Leningrad or Berlin and there's a lot of AAA fire, DX gives me way better performance than OGL does. I get a slide show with OGL. So I always settle for lower max FPS and run with DX, so I get no slide shows. DX handles heavy activity and objects and stuff way better than OGL does.

OGL performs better on my PC.

People talk too much without knowing. D3D and OpenGL are fairly the same thing up to know (the hardware that does the work.. and its the same for both) only difference is that GL receives new features faster due to extension model and is cross plataform capable. While D3D has the support of M$ behind it. Other difrerences are in drivers and very small features

I would never bought IL2 if it was a directX only game.

If brute force does not solve your problem... you are not using enough!
