O M F G!!! This is incredible.... Dex and the gang, thanks so much for your tips. I`m using your profile Dex for Y&X, and it just perfect. A little bit too fast, but i`ll get use to it. Totally, I REPEAT totally new look to FB. I think i`m gonna cry /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

To RBJ. TrackIR is just a smooth as mouse, but with one exeption. If you get it right, it`s more accurate then mouse is. Take Dex`s word for it and don`t argue about something that you not familiar with /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I am not wondering that someone called second best thing in gaming cotrollers field since joystick.

By the way, you might laugh at me... but best place for a dot appears to be on the forehead LOL. I tried everything, but forehead was the only place i liked heeheh /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

BTW IL2/FB profile that they offer is pretty bad, my head almost fell off...that`s exactly where you get sore neck LOL. Newcomers to trackIR, use Dexes as a start, it`s right on the spot, at least for me.

Ok, i`m off to more flying and testing..before i go, i just want to say this... if you have 114 bucks to spare, do so and you will not be disapointed.

V!

Glad to hear Ivan. If my speed was a little fast for you to get used to, try to work up to it over time. It takes a little training but the faster settings will minimize the movement you need to make in the long run.

Once again, glad to hear you like it! I've had mine for 6+ months and I'm still in awe over how great it is with FB.

Cheers!

Crank up the headphones, turn out the lights, and have a steaming hot plate of immersion.

Put a dot on your head and never look back.

PS: Don't forget to fly with precision.

That`s the beauty of it Dex, minimum head movement...i love it. Besides, i don`t need it all the time, so i have on and off keys mapped comfortable. The only thing i`m still figuring out is dead zone. Yours seem to be much wider with same settings... i can`t figure out why. Any thoughts? It doesn`t really bother me...well with excpetion that i have to turn trkIR on and off.

Ivan,

Try taking an old ballcap and stick a dot right smack in the middle of the EDGE of the bill; works great for me, and doesn't look nearly so spastic as a dot on your forhead... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Ivan, it may be related to me using the 2.01B (beta) version of the naturalpoint software. Having three monitors I didn't like the concept of Naturalpoint deciding that I can't look as far as I want (which is limited in the new drivers), so that may be the issue.

I'd suggest having the deadzone as the majority of space between left and right front canopy pillars, and have it slowly ramp up faster from there outward. I did something like that.

Have the deadzone at zero sensitivity in the dead center, so if anything happens when you're gunning you just keep your head still and recenter and voila, good to go.

Where can I download Dex profile?

(I´m still waiting my Track IR to arrive, but after reading your post, I´ll try directly the Dex profile :-))

Tnx a lot for sharing your happyness with that new toy. I was a bit afraid that TIR will not be what I expected.

Now I´m sure that I made a right buy.

I already copied and pasted yesterday that settings on a text file and keep them safe for the future, but , as my TIR is still in transit (Do you remember how hard the wait is?) I thought that the settings can be writed on a profile file, as the X45 profiles. So thats why I asked for it.

I have a question for you Track IR guys. I've seen a video of someone using TIR and I can't help thinking that after a prolonged gaming session you would have some serious neck pain.. is this the case or is not a factor?

Thx,

trackIR neck pain has never been a problem for me, but did you ever hear a little girl in the supermarket check-out line say to her mother, "Mummy, why has that pale man got a silver dot on his face?" Doh! Don't forget to remove the spot before rejoining society!

I've used trackIR for over a year. The only way you'll experience neck or back pain is if you are too lazy to take the 15 minutes you take to sit comfortably in a chair and adjust it to your needs...

Exactly. If you have your config set too slow then it may be a problem (ie. requiring too much movement) but if you speed it up and get proficient with it it's great.

My tip is to make sure the vertical axis speed is faster because my chiropractor has explained that looking up/back is bad for your neck.

If you don´t want to look lika a moron with a dot on your forehead :-) you might consider placing it at the mic on your headset, but put a few more dots (4 or 5) there so that the "reference area" gets bigger. Otherwise the "dot" migth dissappear from the device' sight when you move your head too far to the left or right. Took me a while to figure out why it didn't work correctly but now it's amazingliy accurate

Sweet ain't it...

I have to have a boom on the top of my monitor to get it close enough, but thats the only problem...

I put the dot on the band of a baseball cap worn backwards... Avoids the 'hinu syndrome' and using up your dots... They even sell reflective hats now too, though too expensive at $19...

Read the thread about physical setup of TIR. Getting the tranceiver at the right distanct from your head is important.

Dex is correct about setting up the Y-axis to be slightly more sensitive. For some reason, it feels like vertical head movement is twice that of horizonatal, so some alterations are needed to get things to feel natural.

If you mount the dot in the brim of a ballcap, head movement becomes 'amplified', and it puts the dot closer to the tranceiver (TC from now on)... this is good since getting the distance between dot and TC is not always easy to perfect, due to desk configurations.

Someone posted a pic of thier setup which showed the TC on an extention of some sort, which was placed on top of thier TV/Monitor. I used the same setup on my desk, since my monitor is so far away from my seating postion. I just ripped 1/4 inch off an 18-inch piece of scrap lumber and used that, it works perfectly in that it puts the TC within usable range, while not upsetting my desk layout.

Distance from dot to TC is very important due to the resolution of the TC. Its worth spending a bit of time finding the "sweet spot" http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Once you get everything tweaked, you can forget about and get on with getting acclimated to using it.

For X45 users: In the TIR software, change the centering key to something unused by FB (I used 'Home'), then in the profiling software, bind that key to a button. I used the thumb-button next to the microstick, but you may have better results with another button.
