I saw the one from a ways back...and lordy me, what a gunsight indeed. I never thought I would see a FW with a gunsight like that, well look what the cat dragged in http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Nice flying with you on BM357 last night btw, it was pretty cool to have so many forum members there all at once.

I wonder how easy the defiant acctually will be to shot down, cause how many times do you go HO againt a fighter in FB?I rarley do it,and if I see one go Ho against me I would turn.I guess it will be more agile than IL2 and one can fight quite good againts a fighter with its´rear gunner,or am I way off http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gifHowever I will enjoy it....I´m pretty sure.

We are in for a visual treat with BOB.Did you see the engine detail on the helicopter/plane thingiehttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gifIt even has pushrods modeled at this early stage.Trucks with open doors. The Defiants rear gunner is terrifying to look at and this is just an early stage shot.Cant wait to see it swiveling at targetshttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The defiant will be an interesting aircraft to shoot down. For me the most important question in BOB will be about the CEM and the FMs (very hard to see in a dev update gallery).

I hope the TA152 isn't a dud, since it is not going to roll well and excel only at high altitudes (not to mention the even poorer look forward - sigh).

I also hope that we get a camera attached to every object (like all the old Janes games) so that we can appreciate all of the detail in BOB instead of just stealing a fleeting glance as you fly by or it drives by a static camera.

Actually it's low altitude performance is supposedly quite good...several people have quoted a 17 degree per second sustained turn rate, which is pretty much La7 standards. Energy modelling is going to be the big question, if it follows the classic FW modelling in game, it will be a stellar performer at high speeds but will wallow like a pig at low speeds.

I don't have any other information other than the ubiquitious stories of a TA out turning a tempest on the deck and the one about Kurt Tank engaging the MW50 and leaving 4 mustangs in the dust, also when he was just wheels up.

I think it's safe to say you can count on excellent sea level speed, great but probably short lived turn radius and a phenomenal climb rate, very good firepower (and apparently the gunsight to use it) and unmatched high altitude performance.

My money is on poor E retention in turns but offset by amazing acceleration and topspeed, which ought to make it more challenging and interesting to fly than the Dora even. In the right hands I think it will probably smoke anything in game but it will still have it's weaknesses and require finesse to achieve it's max performance.

Very good info. Hope it is aan interesting bird to fly in this game. INteresting that a wing with such a high aspect ratio can roll that well.

Beaches and water in Pacific OL map are also improved,
Beaches are whiter, water lighter and more "Blue Lagoon" looking.
Palm trees are the same http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
(I hope the poly count on those has been brought down somehow)
Overall a much more believable Pacific map.

I never realized just how graceful the Ta-152 looks with those extended wings. I was going to stick with the Dora, but I might go with the 152 just for it's looks! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif I liked everything I saw in this update.

No question, the Ta-152H is a pretty plane. But Tank sacrificed firepower for the height and speed he gained. I believe the early Ta-152C's were heavily armed, essentially renamed late variants of the Dora.

In terms of performance, however, the "H" was very fast and quite maneuverable at high altitude. There is a story that Tang, test flying the H, was surprised by a flight of P-51s one day. He easily pulled away from them in the H.

And, with those wings, it could probably glide at little if it lost power.

Winning isn't everything;
It's the only thing!

Whats the story about out turning Tempests on the deck. I'm really interested! From what I know in the tactical trial information...the Tempest is inbetween the P-51 and the FW190 in terms of turn rate so its not terribly surprising, if as said that the Ta-152 has a 18 second turn time, that it was able to out turn a Tempest.

Primary attribute of the Tempest in terms of manuverability is high speed control (similar to the 190) and maybe climb rate if you count that as manuverability trait.

Maybe its supposed to be like that.

I remember a post a long time ago stating that the current size of the crosshair is too small.
