Not to start the whole joystick subject again, but just wanted to mention I finally received my Microsoft FFB2 Joystick in the mail, that I got on Ebay last week. (My old stick is a Logitech Extreme 3D.) Boy what a difference that makes! The MS FFB2 is totally awesome. Very smooth control and the FFB is very nice. Man, I can finally feel my plane and actually feel before it's about to stall!! Firing guns, bullets impacting, wow what a rush.

Another reason to be annoyed with MS. They finally make a product that works just like it is supposed to. Everyone who has ever used it thinks it is the best thing out there. So what do they do? They quit making it!!! D'oh!!!

BTW, I love mine. Bought it just before they quit selling them in the stores. Great stick.

I've had a Logitech Extreme 3D FFB stick for a couple of years. I had turned off the FFB in FB to improve my gunnery. Recently reloaded the Logitech FFB drivers while setting up my new rig. Turned on the FFB in FB and WOW http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif I had forgotten how good the FFB effects are in FB. Though FFB still effects gunnery to a degree, its worth the added immersion. Too bad MS doesnt sell its excellent FFB stick anymore. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/51.gif Hope somebody makes a good HOTAS with FFB for under $100 in the future.

This really is the beat stick out there, don't know how anyone can fly effectively without FFB. It also helps with you feeling different handling characteristics each of the AC has, Without it I doubt you can tell the difference.

Anyone that has the MS FFB2 have any special configs? I'm using the default calibrations and it works fine, so not sure if it needs tweaking or not. (If it ain't broke, don't fix it) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I have a Pegasus AVB FFB,boy this stuff is so heavy it makes all the house tremble when I take off in my Sturmo! FFB is cool, but now I also have an X45 and I can't miss those extra dials and switches.Maybe I will look for another FFB later this year.

After My Logitec died, just befor FB came out, I tried the Microsoft FFB2, but i just did not like it. After i tried two of them i gave up, and ordered CH Fighter stick and CH Pro Pedals.
I could never go back. If you have a chance try one. Is like going from keyboard to joystick.

Ive used a MSFFB for 4 years now.. my original stick still works but when hooked up my son's rig and put IL2 and Crimson Skies on it I gave it to him and started using my spare. I got another spare before they went out but I probably wont have to use it for years. I just hope BoB supports it... LOL. If you have a MSFFB I highly recommend that you consider getting a X45 and using the throttle for a HOTAS set up and the X45 stick as a button bay. It is so immersive and puts the sim in a whole different light when you never have to touch your keyboard if you arent typing.

Bearcat, guess I don't understand your (?2-stick?) set up. Sounds interesting, please explain your hookup,

You can hook up multiple input devices in IL-2 and FB. If you have Windows XP and an unused USB port, just plug the second joystick or other controller in. XP should recognize the second devide automatically. If not, just go into Control Panel and set up the device. Launch FB and go into the control setup and map the buttons and other controls any way you like.

I use my MS FFB2 as my main stick and have my old Logitech Wingman sitting off to the side and use its throttle control for my either my prop pitch or brakes.

I have an old MS FFB1 stick. Was there that much difference between the FFb1 and the FFB2 and would it be worth it for me to dig it out?

The FFB1 I think is a little less XP compatible but you can try it if it still works. Go to the Sidewiner (http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/sidewinder/FFB2.asp) website for the last drivers.

Thanks for the link, Bearcat. I'm still using my 5-6 year old Sidewinder/Precision 2 after two computer upgrades and x 100s of hours. Think it was my third SW and I was sorry to see it discontinued. Recently introduced my son to FB and bought him a Logitech 3D. Bad choice! It's hard for him to get the feel of this great sim on this controller. Maybe we'll check out eBay for an FFB. If you decide to sell your spare, let us know first.
