There are a few things I really love about Il2/FB. Some things bug me.

Pros:

Other than the intro track, Il2/FB doesn't waste my time. Most games bombard their players w/ cut scenes featuring Slick promos and Icons of the game's creators, producers, and sometimes even sponsors (like ATI and Nvidia).

IL2/FB has efficient and stable code. I know sometimes there are hardware issues and conflicts. But, for me at least, I've never had problems w/ crashes, blue screens, or corrupted performance. On the occasions that I did have problems, the root cause was always my hardware. In fact, problems w/ IL2/FB have been a great help in diagnosing hardware problems.

The IL2 community is one of the game's best features. The game's faults are more than compensated by the help of fellow gamers.

Con's:

Il2/Fb has a clumsy and inefficient interface. No hot-keys force us to click and toggle little switches. No multiple window capability forces us to close out one task in order to do another (FMB is where this really gets frustrating).

Game settings are scattered far and wide. To modify all the options, a pilot must navigate in-game dialogs, an external utility, and even edit text.

The game's documentation is woefully inadequate and scattered. Please PC game industry, at least give your customers the opportunity for a complete manual, even if it costs more.

My biggest problem is not that IL2/FB has many faults, quite the contrary. What bugs me is that these faults contribute to the difficulty of learning the game. And the learning curve is steep enough.

I'm certain you know that the intro track can be turned off in "il2setup". Just saying for those new who might be reading this. Just uncheck the "Intro" box in the setup screen.

I pretty much agree with all of the above. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Hot keys and option tweaking, especially.

Good hunting,
