The Vought F4U-4 Corsair. If there are any modelers out there looking for a worthwhile plane, here it is(I would model her myself if I could http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif too bad). Personally she is my favorite bird of the war. Since we are getting new pacific planes, A6m, Ki-84, P-38(I love you gib) and such, I think she would make a fine addition. The Corsair Served for the Royal Navy, and US Navy and Marine Corps.

Here are some stats

Powerplant- one 2,450-hp Pratt &Whitney R-2800-18W Double Wasp Radial Engine(with water injection)

Performance- Max Speed 446 mph (718 km/h) and 26,200 ft (7,985m); Service Ceiling 41,500ft (12,650m); Normal Range 1,005 miles (1,617km)

Dimensions- span 40 ft 11 in(12.47m);length 33 ft 8 in(10.26m);height 14 ft 9 in(4.50m); wing area 314sq ft(29.17m sq)

Armament: Six fifty Caliber machine guns, two 1000 lb bombs, or eight 5-in rockets.

this information comes from The Hamlyn Concise Guide to American Aircraft of World War II, by David Mondey. I highly reccomend it to everyone.

B-24 Liberator. This was far more common than the B-17 but didn't get the glory.

Also the B-25. The russians thought this was our best bomber, according to my dad who worked with russians at Wright Pat AFB, Dayton, OH.

Maybe in Luthiers Pacific Sequel (hope so).

It would create Luftwhiners where none existed before, even in the FM was right. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

BTW, the top pic is a -4, the middle one is a -1D, and the bottom is a -5 model.

Personally I'd like to see the F4U-1D and C before a model 4, but that's me (and if possible the early model-1 birdcage!)................robert conrad was boyington that baabaa black sheep was not how they realy were there was far more milatary disipline then shown.................fact

As Icefire already said, there is a Corsair under development. Haven't had a update on it for some time, however.

Speaking of the F4U, weren't there version with 4 20mm Cannons instead of the 6 .50 cals? I believe they were, they maybe have missed the war, however.

One more vote for the Corsair. Without it, you can't get much beyond 1942 in the PTO.

Thanks for responding, That Corsair looks great. Will it make it in the paid addon? I tried looking for information on the addon, but couldn't find any, does anyone have a link? Also, put in other planes you think would make good additions. It might give modelers ideas http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

If modeled correctly, a Corsair will be down for maintenance every third day. Gimme a Hellcat!

More reliable, easier to fly, and tough as nails...

Cheers

As we all know.... Manufacturing defects and servicability problems are NOT modeled in the game.

Tully's here! IBTL! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

mmmmmm, Corsair....... ala Homer Simpson

I've been drooling for a Pe-2 and Pe-3bis as long as I have seen them. And the P-47M is a real hot ship. P-47N is good. Hellcat's just don't do it for me. They were quite capable aircraft, but I prefer the wicked looks of the Corsair. *more drool*

What kind of armament was to go on the Shinden-kai?

A La-9 would be my preferred a/c for base point defense, the P-47M for any fighter to fighter encounter on patrol, and the Pe-3bis for early war, high speed bomber. Mebbe a B-26B or a B-25 for late war fast attack bombing type stuff.
That would about do it for my Allied hangar.

For my Axis hangar, the low alt version of the Ta-152 for base point defense,http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif the high alt Ta-152 version for fighter vs fighter patrol, http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif and the Bf-110 for (relatively) fast light bombing. Late war bombing..... not much to choose from, and I didn't even like the 110, either.
Interesting reading, though. Look up the Fw 187 Falke (Falcon). It was a competitor of the Bf-110 in the mid 1930s, and was even faster than the Bf 109Bs of the era. Political decisions crippled this promising fighter. I guess for late war, fast bombing it would have to be the dedicated attack versions of the 190.

Preferred night fighter, bar none: the P-61 Black Widow

Enough ranting, I guess, I hope we get all these planes, and more.

Good hunting,
Cajun76
