View Full Version : Crimean Flak

This has been around since FB first came out .
On all maps in QMB you can choose AAA on or off . EXCEPT the Crimean map . It's always on . Those damn ships down in the water start shootin' at me and my FPS drops .
Why can't you turn off the flak on this map ? I'd like to fly over a map with some water (in QMB) without taking such a hit to my FPS . The online Pacific Islands map has palm trees that kill . The Crimean map has flak that kills .
Don't you think we should be able to turn off the AAA on the Crimean map ?
If it sounds like I'm whinning ,...
it's because I am ! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/354.gif

You could try making your self a mission in the full mission builder. It's a bit confusing at first, but when you get the hang of it you can make all the flack-less missions in Cremea anyone could possibly want. If you have trouble staring, check out the mission builders forum. There's some very nice and helpfull folks there.

Yep i know what you mean, a few times ive had a good killing session on the crimean map and whilst regrouping for the journey back to base been blown out of the sky by flak...but sometimes i'll drag the enemy fighters over to the allied ships , i think there are 4 or 5 of them just further back from where you start the QMB, then its the enemy fighters problem http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Also has anyone else noticed 2 of the allied destroyers keep colliding on this map?

haha you know the QMB limited simmers/simmerettes have ~never~ seen the Kuban Mountains (in south~east of Kuban map).

Lexx ,
I appreciate the heads up on the Kuban map , however my whole point was that the flak cannot be turned off on the Crimean map . For those of us who don't take quantum physics and aren't savy with the FMB , this is a pain .
I wish that Oleg and crew would make the AAA an option on the Crimean map .
Like it is on all the other maps in QMB .

Okay, so start learning FMB. But I do know it can make you throw temper tampons, like here...

and I've had a million of them

Temper tantrum indeed !
That boy needs a xanax !!
Actually I shouldn't have to start learning how to program the FMB .
You see , there is a window at the bottom of the QMB screen that says "defense" . Here you can either include ground anti-aircraft defense or leave it out .
But it doesn't matter because it's on anyway .
At least on the Crimean map .

Have no idea what you are talking about. I just use QMB to see if I like skins and stuff. With FMB you can place all your own AA...but just don't try to cover it with cammo netting or you throw tampon. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

** FORGOT **

There is also some 3rd Party "Uber QMB" out there for download that lets you have any FB map and gives alot more options than QMB. I don't know anything about it. Ask Bear

Sturmtrooper

Next time you are looking at your planes and skins in QMB , look down to the right . A window is there . It says , DEFENSE . This enables AAA that fires at you . But on Crimean map it's on anyway . No off , just on .
Am I going to fast for you ?
Are you following me ?
You see not everyone uses the QMB to just look at their own skins .
That's what a mirror is for . http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
Some people actually use that "Quick" Mission Builder to fly , get this , "quick missions" .
Wow , what a concept ! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif
And yes , I use Uberdemon's quick mission generator . It's just that Uberdemon hasn't updated it yet since AEP was released . So in the meantime I must use QMB. Or take a course in quantum physics and learn how to program the FMB .
Not!
I was just addressing the Crimean constant-flak issue . As soon as the UQMG is released , forget about the QMB .
You ought to try it .
It beats the heck outta that un-user friendly FMB .
Uberdemon for President !!!!!!!

Okay, how about this:: Fly away from the bad AA, there is water all over the map, you should be able to find some water somewhere to fly around.

Try that Kuban "mission" above in FMB, see if you like the new map. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Actually it would be nice if the flak could be adjusted.... period. Even if it was just in the config file as a value of say 1,2 or 3 for the ship flak as well as the bomber gunners. There must be a command line somewhere for it. Would it be difficult to just put it in the conf file?

Thank you Bearcat .
Yes, Lexx . I will try that text folder in the FMB . Thanks for the stuff .
Okay , I could just fly away from the flak . But in QMB you always start in the same place . And unless I choose a ground target , I start right over the ships . Now my cpu isn't bad , neither is my graphics card . But the flak DOES take a noticable hit on my framerates . And flying away from the action isn't really a solution , is it ? Fly away from the fight ? Not Me !
Basically I'm saying this : It would be nice to have an over the water dogfight map that doesn't kill my FPS .
I think that Bearcat has the right idea . Have the flak intensity adjustable in the conf.ini file .

I wouldnt mind it if i could just SINK THE SHIPS.... but if i go near thewm I am a goner. I have yet to survive a Crimean QM where I try to take out the flak.. and usually if I allow the AI to lure me over the ships.. Im a goner still...

Sturmtrooper,

There is a relatively simple solution to your problem:

1.Make a QMB mission and save a 1 second track. This must be TRK file, _NOT_ an NTRK.

2.Open the track file in notepad, delete the line:

[$$$record]

and everything that follows it.

3.Save the file in notepad as QMB.mis to the mission folder of your choice. (remember to select "all files" in the "Save as type" box in notepad.)

4.Create an empty file in notepad and save it as QMB.properties to the same folder as the mission file.

5.Open in the FMB, an edit as you like.

The original .TRK files save all mission information, so you can extract the mission from the track.

If this is too much work for you, the following is a Crimea mission extracted by this method. Copy it and save it in notepad as a .MIS file, don't forget to create the .POPERTIES file. You'll have to edit the mission yourself in the FMB to get rid of those annoying AAA's.

Hope this helps,
Cloyd
