No TYp on the Eastern Front me thinks. They were ground attack Western so you will have to wait for BoB

Dogtail, check here (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=63110913&m=650109254)

Tempest / Typhoon in the works though it's not certain that they'll make it into the final patch. Hope so though, love Tiffie's to bits.

Whether the type flew on the Eastern Front is irrelevant for FB; I doubt if many Ki-84's made it out there either, or Zero's http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Tell me Hartmann,
where exactly do you think Normandy is? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif

Normandy and the Ardennes are the two theaters where the Typhoon were used most heavily. Most squadrons were mere minutes from Caen or from the frontlines and were in near constant support of the British and Canadian armies in those sectors. Typhoon has all sorts of justification for being present.

Battle of Britain goes from June 1940 to September 1940. It will not include the Typhoon unless they expand into 1941 when the Typhoon IA and early IB were introduced (coincidentally the same week as the FW190A-1).

Typhoon external is done and with Oleg...courtesy of Harti. Tempest is in progress and hopefully will be finished with external and cockpit and may also feature a converted cockpit to the Typhoon so that will be flyable as well.

We can only hope.

Last time I check Normandy was on the Western Front that opened in 44'? Or was it the intergalatic front? I can't remember... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif

You could argue that the BoB stretched to the end of the Blitz in 1941, but that's still not late enough.

Irrespective of that, there's sufficient western front presence in the current game to justify the upcoming Tempest/Typhoons.

I hope the Typhoon or Tempest get into IL2 eventually. I think the Typhoon is my all time fave aircraft, it just looks hard as nails http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/59.gif

Anyone know if there are any still flying in RL?

There's a bunch of survivors, but no flying Tempests ( don't know about Typhoons ).

There appear to be some efforts to restort a Tempest II and a Tempest V to flyable, so all is not lost.

Seems a bit short sighted to only make the sim the summer of 1940. I was kind of hoping BoB would be the new IL2 and later on we'd see expansions with more RAF, USAAF, LW and Italian planes in.

If someone was to make a sim with the same level of detail as BoB but make it spanning the entire war they could make allot of money and leave BoB in the dust.

I will support any thread that brings on the "Tiffie"

But dont forget the Mosquito and Beaufighter.

Word has it the Beaufighter will be in Pacific Fighters................But before that... What about IL2FB AEP...Please.. More Beaufighter squadrons operated in Europe and the Med/Desert theaters than in the Far East.

I believe there is only one Typhoon left in the world of the over 3000 made. It's at the RAF museum, Hendon.
